Another panther death brings the 2026 total to 12. A 6-year-old male was killed by a vehicle strike on SR 29 in Collier County on Sept. 29.
"Alligator Alcatraz" is gone, but the site is still prime panther habitat. Every acre matters.

Gentle reminder: go touch grass. 🌾 Happy National Public Lands Day! Everglades National Park belongs to all of us. Go see it for yourself.
Florida voters already set aside the money to buy land for Everglades restoration, and it's time the state used it. Read how our Rescue the River of Grass campaign is pushing to finish the job: https://ow.ly/FVWX50ZR2ym

🚨 Two bombshells just dropped about "Alligator Alcatraz."
A federal audit found major health & safety failures at the camp. A state report confirms it drained Florida's emergency fund to $6.4M — with a $1.5B deficit ahead.
Our lawsuit forced this into the open 👇

Front page of The New York Times, one more entry in Alligator Alcatraz's growing list of failures. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/09/14/us/alligator-alcatraz-dhs-inspector-general.html
Two new reports confirm it: "Alligator Alcatraz" was a fiasco. A federal watchdog found the camp failed health and safety standards, including 18-sq-ft cages. Florida drained its emergency fund to $6.4M, with $187M going to Alcatraz contractors. Follow us.
By the way, it's their home too. Alligators dig "gator holes" that hold freshwater through the dry season, a lifeline for other wildlife. When they thrive, it's a sign the ecosystem is healthy, but toxic algae threatens that water.
No egrets here. 🪽 The Great Egret, a large Everglades wading bird, hunts fish with lightning-fast strikes.
A 240-square-mile toxic algae bloom is covering Lake Okeechobee, per NOAA data. It threatens Florida's coasts, wildlife and public health, from skin irritation to neurodegenerative disease.
We know the fix: buy the land south of Lake O for water storage.
Anything to help protect the Everglades 💃
