We've just published new research with our partners at Oxford Economics revealing the significant impact that pubs and brewers have on generating growth in the UK.

It's been brilliant hearing so many ideas on policy at Conference, and one of the most important for our sector is the future of Britain's circular economy. But for pubs and brewers to play their part, the Government needs to urgently rethink its flagship Extended Producer Responsibility scheme.

"Increasing the draught discount and freezing beer duty at its current rate would be an undisputed win-win" This move will not only ease affordability pressures for brewers and pubs, but it will also ensure over 7,000 jobs across the sector, with over 3,000 for under-25s.

Reports came out over the weekend speculating that the Government is looking to make changes that could help the sector, particularly smaller pubs. According to our estimates, raising the small business rates relief threshold £18,000 would pull 5,000 locals out of paying business rates.

We welcome to the Welsh Government's recent move to support the nation's pubs, however any changes must match the relief that Westminster has committed to implementing next year. Please read our full response below.
