@victoriametrics.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 1:36 PM

In this session, we’ll explore essential optimizations to maintain database speed, such as string interning, caching results, goroutine management and understanding sync.pool.

The largest installations handle 100 million samples/s on the ingestion path. This requires being very clever with data pipelines to keep them efficient and scalable as resources scale.

@victoriametrics.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 1:36 PM

Application Performance #Monitoring and #Kubernetes monitoring in their current state are pretty expensive. The average VictoriaMetrics installation processes 2-4 million samples/s on the ingestion path and 20-40 million samples/s on the read path.

There are no queries against storage, no new query language to learn, and nothing tied to a specific vendor, so any Prometheus-compatible setup can use it.

@victoriametrics.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 10:00 AM

A small estimator maintains a #HyperLogLog sketch for each label dimension and publishes the results as ordinary #metrics in the #Prometheus exposition format. It receives data over remote-write and is scraped like any other target.

@victoriametrics.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 10:00 AM

This talk is about estimating cardinality in flight, while the metrics are still streaming in. The estimator runs as a separate pipeline alongside the storage, not inside it.

How queries run the same structure in reverse, applying a stack of pruning mechanisms based on time, stream labels, and bloom filters so that only the data that can actually match is ever read.

@victoriametrics.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 10:00 AM

This talk follows a log entry through the VictoriaLogs engine: how it is ingested with no upfront schema, how it lands in an immutable #LSM-like compressed column-oriented storage.

Rather than focusing on #sustainability reporting, we examine the technical challenge of modeling carbon as telemetry: what entities should emissions be attributed to, which attributes should be standardized, and whether carbon belongs in metrics, traces, resource metadata, or all three.

@victoriametrics.bsky.socialOct 8, 2026, 3:10 PM

πŸ‡²πŸ‡¦ Salam, Rabat!
@didiviking.bsky.social, our DevRel, will speak at Cloud Native Rabat and present her talk, β€œCarbon as a First-Class Signal: Designing a Standard for OpenTelemetry.”
This talk explores Software Carbon Intensity (SCI) through the lens of #OpenTelemetry semantic conventions.

What motivates someone to keep contributing week after week? What do contributors gain from participating? And what can an #OpenSource community do to make that first step easier and create a welcoming path from newcomer to regular contributor?

@victoriametrics.bsky.socialOct 8, 2026, 11:00 AM

In this talk, she’ll explore what localization communities actually do, why first-time contributors choose to get involved, and what turns an initial contribution into an ongoing commitment.
