Transcription termination can be targeted by antisense oligonucleotides!

In collaboration with Roche Innovation Center Basel, we describe downstream-of-gene ASOs (DG-ASOs), which act within transcription termination windows, OUTSIDE of annotated genes.

A 0.1% fee on all finance transactions could potentially raise £548 billion in revenue in the UK. Per average UK household this is 2£ of tax a month. Why are we not doing this?

After excising an intron, the spliceosome gets trapped on the branched intron-lariat RNA. How are such dead-end spliceosomes terminated? Our latest paper led by @vytaute.bsky.social investigates the mechanism of spliceosome termination www.nature.com/articles/s41... (1/6)

Nuclear speckles are “hot”, but how do they actually sequester mRNPs?
We find that stalled mRNPs are retained in nuclear speckles by a combinatorial RNA-binding protein network.

New from the lab! We uncover how the cap-binding complex promotes first-intron splicing: ZC3H18 recruits splicing factors while competing with the RNA-decay machinery, linking two alternative fates for newly made RNA.

How are mRNAs linked to molecular motors in mammalian cells? In our new preprint, we show that FXR1/2 are RNA adaptors for the microtubule motor dynein. Our findings have also prompted us to rethink how activating adaptors contribute to motor-based transport (1/n)
