What if I tick a bunch of romance tropes (hurt/comfort, slow burn, enemies-to-lovers, fake dating) but actually the romance is one-sided so there's no payoff, and the ending is they're just friends, thanks for coming to my ted talk š©
I'm outlining a novella/stand alone novel about Alan and Colin's time in the academy, but it's so tonally different from Triple Strike, it doesn't particularly work as a way for readers to see if they'd like the series, and I suspect it'll only be for me anyway =.=
Even without a lot of context, I read this as him having found something inside of himself that he either had lost or never knew he had, and it was in part because of the love of his friends, and that's really beautiful š
What do ya mean? Javert had a greaaat ending š¤£. No, Alan will be fine. He has some of Javert's rigidity of thought, but he deals with it as the series goes on, I think. Unlike Javert, whom I do love dearly š

Drop some BOATS
As a side note, he is heavily based on Sam Vimes from Discworld but with a bit of Javert from Les Mis and Miles Edgeworth from Ace Attorney tossed in there, and hopefully you don't have to squint too hard to see all of them š
an impartial third party. And if you called him on it, heād readily admit heās being a hypocrite, but paradoxically, itās his honor and moral codes being so inflexible that he wonāt bend on them even if he thinks heās breaking them by following them ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
He overlooks multiple crimes (and not just āhaha weāre piratesā crimes), and ignores evidence related to his actual investigative duties, because he decides going through the legal system wouldnāt accomplish anything meaningful, even though he also believes justice should be carried out by --
This is a pretty interesting question regarding Alan, because he does have a strict moral code, principles he will not bend on, and pride about his personal honor and job, so while this suggests heās a rules-follower, heās in many ways not.
Saaaame, bestie.
That was a very cute sequence š
I have several snips with "cousin" in both Triple Strike and Entropic Son, but funnily enough, two of them are about the tech, so I'm sharing both for compare-contrast š
(and yes, chelics are 100% MGS Gekkos with scorpion tails why do you ask š« )
Oooooh yeah! Love all these spooky reads!
I'm not crying, you're crying š
TIL Churchill did not say the phrase "the only traditions of the Royal Navy are rum, sodomy, and the lash" but when he was asked about it, he replied "I never said it. I wish I had."
Iām still offline until Monday but ran into some unexpected medical expenses, so if yāall are in the mood for a new book Iād love for you to choose mine - theyāre bangers āŗļø
Yep. Exactly. Though I suppose if LLMs can do one useful thing, itās force all levels of society to confront notions of worth and value perpetuated by capitalismā¦hope we come to the right conclusion š
They sure would tbh š. I can't articulate how surreal it is hearing some of the foremost academic experts say there's no point having humans do research anymore, because I guess AI agents will do the research then tell other AI agents about it, so humanity is over, let's just burn fossil fuels?
