I’ve written to the head of NHS England asking whether it has told Palantir to stop making these claims, and whether it will hold the company to the standard it now applies to itself. See letter here. (4/4)

After the statistics watchdog stepped in, NHS England now makes clear that its numbers don’t show cause and effect – but the watchdog doesn’t regulate Palantir, which continues to mislead the public. (3/4)

@chelfulhamben.bsky.socialOct 8, 2026, 10:02 AM

The numbers they quote, such as 117,000 extra operations, only compare hospitals before & after they started using the software: they don’t prove it caused the change. Other things could explain it, such as extra staff or funding, & none of that has been taken into account. (2/4)

NHS must stop Palantir’s misleading claims. Palantir and its UK executive Lord (Tom) Watson need to stop claiming the company’s NHS software has delivered results. The truth is that nobody knows what impact it has had. (1/4)

Nothing should slow this down now. Almost a decade has passed since that terrible night. The whole story must come out, those to blame must be held to account and real reform must make sure it never happens again.

@rbkc.gov.uk has been referred to the CPS for possible offences including corporate manslaughter. Prosecutors will decide on charges before the tenth anniversary next June. For the bereaved and survivors, the wait has been unbearable. Those responsible must answer for what happened.

For the families who lost loved ones at Grenfell Tower, and for everyone who survived that night, today brings the justice they are owed a step closer. The Metropolitan Police have passed their evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service, and the process remains on track.

Absolutely brilliant to hear Yvette Cooper call violence against women and girls an “epidemic” and for it to be formally treated as a “public health” crisis. Alongside the roll out of Steps to Safety to GPs this represents a clear commitment to tackling VAWG.

Definitely feeling more hopeful for our country after @andyburnham.bsky.social’s conference speech setting out a 10-year vision for Britain. Especially pleased he'll hold national conversations on free social care and on all options for our future relationship with the EU.

We need truth-seekers, not spin doctors. We need a transparent, sovereign data system based on common standards and open platforms - one that earns the trust of NHS staff and achieves clear outcomes for patients. (5/6)

@chelfulhamben.bsky.socialSep 18, 2026, 10:31 AM

This pattern of quashing critics while overstating results raises questions about officials' objectivity. (4/6)

This year the statistics regulator rebuked NHS England for claiming the FDP had delivered 110,000 additional operations and cut discharge delays by 15 per cent after it emerged the claims were based on a flawed methodology. (3/6)

@chelfulhamben.bsky.socialSep 18, 2026, 10:31 AM

It's striking that one of the lines the data guardian cut from her draft under pressure warned against spinning the facts, given that's exactly what ended up happening. (2/6)

@chelfulhamben.bsky.socialSep 18, 2026, 10:31 AM

It's troubling that an NHS England official tried to suppress criticism of the FDP rollout before the Palantir deal and that the data guardian let this happen. (1/6)

With problem gambling a public health crisis, Lords report today echoes our Health Committee report. Protect children & vulnerable people by controlling gambling ads, social media marketing, sports sponsorship. Lords' call for full ad ban merits attention. publications.parliament.uk/pa/ld5902/ld...

I've long campaigned with families to get disabled children who lack capacity access to their Child Trust Funds. Very pleased that the Justice Minister @jakerichardsmp.bsky.social has committed to sorting this out, working across government and parties.

Brilliant energy at the campaign launch for Sagal Abdi-Wali in Holborn & St Pancras by-election this weekend. Good to join West London colleagues @hammersmithandy.bsky.social & @rupahuq.bsky.social out on the doors. Strong support for Labour 🌹 on 8 October.

If Russian thuggery in Ukraine pays off, who's next? The UK and EU must face the escalating Russian hybrid threat of sabotage, cyber-attacks and disinformation. Glad to join Ukrainian MPs and MEPs at Europe House to discuss strengthening defence and security together.
