Yeah, clearly totally different bikes.

I don't really post about work on here, but I'll make an exception to brag about a cool thing I get to work on: recodification of the Somerville Code of Ordinance, which I gave a presentation on at last night's City Council meeting.

Very succinct view on the state of housing in Massachusetts.

“We think — because of the wording of the ballot question — a lot of market rate or even luxury units would be built as a result of this ballot question,” Chapdelaine said.

MMA'S executive director saying -- VERBATIM -- that the ballot question might lead to market-rate housing development is hilarious. Hilarious in that it's situated in the opposition section of the article. Yeah man, that's kind of the whole game. You get it.

The Cambridge City Council is weighing loosening its inclusionary housing requirement as the city faces 2 lawsuits over the policy and concerns that it is preventing progress on large developments.

Maya Y. Fu and Risha Sinha report.

This would be shockingly good policy direction for a region entrenched in shockingly bad policy Here’s to hoping

I’m sure it’d be unpopular, but I don’t think congress banning sports betting advertising overnight would have real electoral consequences for them

The rumors are true...DPW is giving away free latex paint on October 9! Between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., anyone can stop by the DPW building at 17 Franey Road to grab some paint (and help DPW save on the recycling fees). Somerville residency NOT required! 🧵

Are they doing receipts on that typewriter or what’s up there

Not sure if a) I’ve not been paying attention, b) these are simply being reported more, or c) we are actually having more notable fires. Perhaps a bit of all of ‘em

I’m hoping bus lane enforcement is quickly deployed, regimented, and something we never look back at. It sets a healthy precedence for transit and, more broadly, for sensible governance. Performative law-making is bad vibes all around. Optimistic and curious about bike lanes in the future 👍

I’ve been following the bus cameras thing but only loosely. I’m astounded the lengths electeds up and down the ladder will go to avoid enforcing traffic laws. I understand why, electorally, but hilarious how farcical some traffic laws are relative to enforcement.

Oh man, Bluesky posts are probably not the right format for this. Here's the shortest version I can share on my perspective: I'm not fully against the idea of a driverless car. I'm extremely concerned that we are rolling these out giving too much deference to the companies pushing them.

@whatissomerville.bsky.socialSep 30, 2026, 10:27 PM

Thanks, good response w/ both nuance and explanation. Appreciate you catching me up. I’ve never ridden in one but have heard good things. They’re also *so much* safer than normal drivers. So I was curious your thinking. Lots of good reasoning here.

@whatissomerville.bsky.socialSep 30, 2026, 10:25 PM

Fair enough, but this is just a consumption tax with a few more steps. If there’s a per-mile tax on driverless miles in Somerville, it’ll just be a small factor on your bill for every trip. Which sounds good to me!
