The Amityville Horror (1979)
I've finally caught up to spooky season and #31daysofhorror
Film #334 of 2026 The Killing (1956) Got to see this in the cinema with a full crowd and special guests. So good.
Film #333 of 2026 Apology for Murder (1945) Low-rent Double Indemnity knockoff. Mostly dull but has some pretty good hard-boiled dialogue and Ann Savage is enjoyable.
Film #332 of 2026 Holiday Affair (1949) Very sweet, light, and lovely.
Film #331 of 2026 Cunk on Life (2024) For the longest time, I thought "Philomena Cunk" was just another influencer telling people how to live. It was only when I saw her on Last One Laughing that I realized it was all a joke. This was very funny.
Film #330 of 2026 Labyrinth (1986) Just as fun as it was when I was a kid.
Film #329 of 2026
Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma (2026)
Liked this a lot. Made it my Friday Night Horror Movie from a couple of weeks back.
Film #328 of 2026 Mad Love (1935) A bald Peter Lorre takes the hands of a murderer and puts them on a pianist's body after a terrible accident ruins them. Terrible things occur.
Film #327 of 2026 The Big Caper (1957) I love how willingly weird this film is. From the odd decision to have the two leads set up a pretend house months before the caper begins, to the muscle-bound, milk-drinking, utterly submissive stud, to the alcoholic explosives man. This is a great caper.
Film #326 of 2026 One Body Too Many (1954) Not much of a mystery, but it's a lot of fun.
Film #325 of 2026 Fear in the Night (1947) Somewhere toward the end of this, I realized I'd seen it before. When I checked, I realized I had seen the remake from 1956. The remake is better.
Film #324 of 2026 Secret Agent (1936) Some wonderful Hitchcockian moments. Great special effects. Good story. Drags a bit in the middle
Film #323 of 2026 Barbarian Queen (1985) Utter garbage.
Film #322 of 2026 From Hell (2001) Unlike most people, it seems, I liked this one better since I've read the book.
Film #321 of 2026 Supergirl (2026) Better than I expected it to be.
Film #320 of 2026 The Golem: How He Came Into the World (1920) I'm trying to watch more silent films. Films like this make me a fan.
Film #319 of 2026 Ghostwatch (1992) Terrific stuff. Made it my Friday Night Horror Movie a couple of weeks ago.
Film #318 of 2026
The Hot Spot (1990)
Pretty great little neo-noir. I reviewed the Blu for Cinema Sentries.
Film #317 of 2026
Yakuza Graveyard (1976)
Slightly disappointing crime drama from Kinji Fukasaku. I reviewed the new Blu from Radiance.
I've been (slowly) listening to all the Grateful Dead's Dicks Picks and writing about them on my Substack. I just did Vol 5 which is amazing.
