Did I have too much fun writing headlines for a story about Graceland and another story about giant pumpkins 🎃? Yes, yes I did.

Caught a weird and tricky error today in proofs. So I’ve got that going for me, which is nice.
I cursed loudly in the newsroom when I saw this.
She’s a star! And a Leo.
Ummm…hmm. Lessons my pet taught me?
I hope we have another pet-themed chat. Sorry I wasn’t here for the live chat.
A8. She’s my favorite colleague. She makes sure I get up and move around.
A7. Diana encourages me to chill out and rest. Sometimes hanging out watching “Dragon Ball Z” while snuggling is more important than working.
A5. Yes. Diana interrupted during a Zoom call where I was among several headline contest winners. She jumped into my chair and blocked my camera. More than once. Thankfully it was more hilarious than anything.
A3. I find that prevention is key! I try to play with my cat before I start editing. But…she’s a cat so this approach has its limits.
Sorry I was late to the party, had a medical appointment .

every time a dog that shares a passing resemblance to Snoopy comes to the shelter, we play Linus and Lucy over the loudspeakers and a confetti cannon goes off. it's that important
Just had a “screw it, I’m writing this headline this way” moment.
Nope.
Found a typo of Monday, which feels appropriate.
Join us for our next #StetChat about working from home with pets this Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 4–5 p.m. ET / 1–2 p.m. PT.

Oh no! I hope you recover quickly.
Wow. That’s an odious opinion.
I rewrite the thing and tell him “ok the problem is that this sentence is passive and there’s a nonessential clause that’s not fully punctuated, in case anyone gives you guff.”
Then I thank him for pinging me and pressing for the fix.
Graphic is now back for round two of proofreading.
This is a tad unusual but we’ve worked together for a long time, so I know he’s serious.
I look at the graphic again and damn, he’s right. It takes a minute to one, figure out the fix and two, to familiarize myself enough with the story so it’s accurate.
