Our October issue is now live!
www.cell.com/patterns/iss...

Our cover this month highlights the work by Sakaguchi et al, which presents a method for "disentangling" single-cell transcriptome data obscured by batch effects.

On the cover this month, blobs of color overlaid with swirling lines and arrows become progressively more crisp and clear at the center of the image. This was inspired by Kanade, a method described in the paper by Sakaguchi et al. that clarifies single-cell omics data obscured by batch effects and supports downstream analyses such as RNA velocity. Cover design by Shunta Sakaguchi.

Online Now: Density-based longitudinal neuron tracking in high-density electrophysiological recordings #datascience

dlvr.itDensity-based longitudinal neuron tracking in high-density electrophysiological recordingsTracking the same neurons across days or weeks is essential for understanding learning, stability, and plasticity in the brain but remains technically challenging in chronic electrophysiology due to probe drift and unit turnover. Huang et al. present DANT, a framework using density-based clustering for longitudinal neuron tracking that improves matching yield while maintaining accuracy across Neuropixels recordings in cortex and striatum during trained motor behaviors in freely moving rats.
