Statement from Senator Shelley Mayer on the ICE Shooting in Marble Hill "Yesterday, a man was shot by a federal immigration agent in New York City. Seven rounds were fired at his vehicle, with his five-year-old son sitting in the back seat.

As we mark the third anniversary of the October 7 terrorist attacks in Israel, we continue to pray for the lives that were lost and for the survivors, for an end to the suffering of the Palestinians in Gaza, for an end to war, and for a plan for lasting peace throughout the region.

Glad to join the New York State School Boards Association today to discuss the importance of student voices on school boards. In 2024, my legislation was enacted to require school districts to have at least one student ex-officio school board member.

Honored to receive the Friends of the Council award from the New York State Council of School Superintendents. I was happy to discuss shared education goals with school leaders. I thank the council for this opportunity and for their commitment to schools and children across our state.
