Professional bookworm, amateur hill wanderer, cake, music, and #EarlyModern enthusiast. If lost, likely to be found in the dustier corners of the seventeenth century. Researches early modern English literary history and culture https://shorturl.at/uXujC
@racheljwillie.bsky.socialYou’ve got this!
@racheljwillie.bsky.socialNot long until @emiliekmmurphy.bsky.social runs her socks off! 🧦
@racheljwillie.bsky.socialBy popular demand (OK, a handful of “eeek, I missed the deadline. Can I still submit” emails), we’ve decided to extend the deadline until 16th October. Who knew a CfP deadline coinciding with teaching ramping up would cause such havoc?! #Skystorians
@racheljwillie.bsky.social😔
@racheljwillie.bsky.socialIt’s depressing that this kind of stuff is still happening. They can’t blame AI: it’s been trained on bigotry that humans fed it.
@racheljwillie.bsky.socialSometimes they allocate liberally to the UoA but put in place such tight arbitrary rules about expenditure that savvy strategising is impossible.
@racheljwillie.bsky.socialThere was talk of this at the last REF. The idea that my monograph & first edited collection might have gone into the UoA of an institution that left me too numb to feel a sense of achievement in having published them (or to celebrate their publication) was a pretty horrible feeling.
@racheljwillie.bsky.socialWas really looking forward to coming to this…then my timetable was changed and I now teach on Friday afternoons…
@racheljwillie.bsky.socialThreads within threads! 🧵🧵🧵
Is @aidannorrie.bsky.social weaving a tapestry???
@racheljwillie.bsky.socialTHERE’S STILL TIME!!!!!!
@racheljwillie.bsky.socialYou know they’re serious when it’s written on the hassocks!
@racheljwillie.bsky.socialAnd when Eduroam is so glitchy, it’s not always guaranteed that the trip will be worth it.
@racheljwillie.bsky.socialWe won’t be stringent on the deadline, but it the official deadline is today!
@racheljwillie.bsky.socialI’m very grateful to have a SCONUL card, ILL, etc., but the increasing move to electronic-only purchases is making it hard to fulfil some revisions — e.g., citing a poem from a particular edn that would cost £395 to purchase since none of the libraries in the region seem to have a hard copy.
@racheljwillie.bsky.social👀 I spy @willtosh.bsky.social at Shakespeare North!
If you can’t get to Prescot to nab a copy, you can now buy it in glorious paperback elsewhere: uk.bookshop.org/p/books/stra...
@racheljwillie.bsky.social🥰 if you were in @ellierycroft.bsky.social’s @saaupdates.bsky.social seminar a couple of years’ ago, you would have read an earlier draft of this.
Glad to be in this volume, even if I’m a little intimidated by the excellence of the company I keep!
@racheljwillie.bsky.socialCome one, come all! Shower us with your lovely abstracts!
@racheljwillie.bsky.socialMy favourite remains “Pathetic phallusy”.
@racheljwillie.bsky.social“Lunatique Frontiers and the Damnation of Allens” I gave a paper last year with the title “Cosmic Colonialism and the Salvation of Aliens”, so it’s a variation on a theme…
