Thanks to the staff, volunteers and the public who took notice of the signs - the 50th year of the shorebird sanctuary at Gibraltar Point was one of the best seasons. With an 49 little tern chicks, 56 ringed plover chicks and 14 oystercatcher chicks all hatch successfully and leave their nests.
He told us: "We called early on Friday 4th September to Whisby and got such a surprise when we opened the hide windows of Hide 1. There were two bittern together out in the open! After almost 60 years of birdwatching my most memorable moment, and at a local Lincolnshire reserve too."
What a photo - and what a moment for longstanding Trust supporter and regular visitor to Whisby Nature Park, Kevin Ward. Thank you so much for sharing, Kevin.
Huge thanks to Lincoln Conservation Group for helping at our #WilderHumber saltmarsh & sand dune plant nursery on Sunday. Tasks included seed sorting & counting, and transplanting young plants into larger plug trays. The plants will eventually help restore coastal habitats around the Humber Estuary

Exciting news from Willow Tree Fen, where two crane chicks emerged from the reeds last week. We've been keeping their arrival quiet over the bank holiday as they are very sensitive to disturbance. If you're visiting, binoculars are recommended and our amazing Crane Watch volunteers are on hand.
