Lovely review of the new Catburgers archival release from Raven Sings the Blues.
"... as infectious as it is exuberant. ... a fitting document of the band, and pretty cohesive collection that stands along any current Slumberland release with jangle bonafides."

Awesome Railcard review from Rosy Overdrive!
"I’d hurry into the studio too if I knew that Two Steps at a Time was on the other end of the line."

Railcard is a London group made up of former DIY popsters from such groups as Dolly Mixture, Heavenly, Talulah Gosh, Trashcan Sinatras, and who knows what else. This is from their recent debut album, Two Steps At A Time.
These songs came out of the circle around the young Slumberland Records label, where bands raised on hardcore’s urgency started sneaking sweetness into the racket. Velocity Girl had several strong songwriters, so the collection never settles into one mood.

Untune Records in Indonesia are putting out a *very* limited cassette release of Galashiels. Fun!
What an absolute belter this one is. Awfully glad this finally came out as a standalone LP.
A brilliant performance from Railcard at Sidney & Matilda in Sheffield this afternoon 🎶🎶🎶
New edition of England’s Dreaming just in! A ‘new’ cover by Derek Jarman - originally created for first edition (1991) but never used (the Faber box design). Also features new intro by me that inter alia gets my thoughts down about Malcolm McLaren. In the shops and online early November
I’m right here with you!
Business of Dreams' super under-appreciated second album is absolutely lighting up my Friday afternoon. So flipping great!

Lovely review of The Cat's Miaow's "When You Smiled And Turned Away" in the new (Dec 2026) issue of Uncut. On newsstands now! “If the librarian from The Go-Betweens' Karen formed a band sparked by the whispers of Beat Happening and Galaxie 500, it might have been The Cat's Miaow."

A much needed retrospective of The Catburgers. It’s almost inconceivable that the band wasn’t scooped up & sent out via Flexi to every corner of the DIY world in the ‘80s. With a fizz fixed to the amps and huge strums hung with hooks ’n harmonies, the band vaults through pop pinwheels bit.ly/4hQdAmq
This is cool - the new Cat’s Miaow single in the Guardian playlist today.

Listening to Fakebook for the first time in several years, but absolutely caned it to death when it came out. More bands should cover themselves too!
