Really important commentary. So many students and faculty have kept feeding this thing, or being required to, without any underatanding of its true purpose. In my classes we were given the option to “request and alternative” but that really wasn’t accessible for remote/online interactions […]

@dansup @mczachurski

I would love to take notes on you two collaborating!!! And see if I could help.

@jalict you can also check out Fedideck.app, which lets you pin columns of the public feeds from
Instances you’re not part of. So you can “follow” in various categorical ways.

@jalict check out fediwall.social for look/feel. We already have the tech tools out there, the devs and providers just need support! It should not be too hard to allow an assembly of bookmarks-with-images.

Love this. Also, bring back funiculars!!!

I liked it better when the Onion was parody, not prophecy.

I am now extremely intrigued by this instance and its accounts. Systems-brain is seeing so many parallels, potentials, and many more WTF? questions. FediGnomes. wut.

I somehow find Toronto kind of injurious. Every trip for the past few years, I come back with some sort of injury. I don't know that it's walking entirely on that much concrete, or something about the ergonomics of train seating for 4+hours, or just feeling more crowded and jostled and the way I […]

BLESS @dtkmelissa.bsky.social for her amazing rundown of KW election candidates citified.substack.com/p/municipal-... - love the list of survey links, love the summaries of each candidate's record on things that matter most to me and my community, wish every municipality had a Melissa 💜

@julian @fediforum I will definitely be watching the recording at least one more time when it's up. It was a very energizing talk, after me going through a few months of discouragement from roadblocks.

I am old enough to remember the US turning the entirety of YouTube inside out to get rid of every last share of an Islamic State execution of a US contractor (criminal in their jurisdiction). But OK, sure, let’s go full medieval-meets-Twitch-influencer because cool, cool, flatfoot Kegbreth and […]

They have further built a dashboard which they refer to in terms of evaluating “alignment” levels rather than “compliance” evaluations. Comes back to the ideas of values and justice being the foundation of data collection, analytics and governance.

Ooh. Among the concluding insights: practice asking questions rather than just offering the answer (that you think you have). EDI committee created an evaluation tool.

SHIP is echoing many here today in insisting that openness, transparency, and consent are part of the governance structure of all data and technology. They find the benefits compound in improving the entire service delivery flow from intake to outcomes. Monitoring and adaptation (iterate? […]

We are moving this discussion to applying the four-panel lens to the view of data justice. You’ll recognize the panels - Inequality —> equality —> equity —> Justice. Organizational readiness to use data for for justice requires organizational transformation to truly develop justice as an […]

2nd half of this breakout is by SHIP: from data to action . 1. See the Signal 2. Shift the System 3. Turn Insight into Action This small data org within an org is focused on the Housing and Service continuum for vulnerable citizens.

A worked example of wisdom in action: very different survey results between doing a single “intake” survey asking all required questions in one go, compared to asking those same questions over multiple contact points on an extended time frame - because it takes time and relationship for peoples’ […]

Breakout 2 Room C for me - all about the interplay in data and communications to move from “reporting” to “storytelling”. It’s moving from “what” - reporting the numbers, which my recent past’s systems studies would say are “outputs” - to the “why”. The “why” is the story. It’s the wisdom that […]

This small group within Sinai Health is sharing their approach for developing the org’s AI policy. Key elements that they surfaced are not news to me, but affirm some long standing observations. Some things should not be fast. Efficiency is not effectiveness. Speed is not Success. Identify your […]
