I'm a (recovering) software engineer by trade, an electronics hobbyist and amateur guitarist by night, and a house-rabbit enthusiast and ambassador all the time.

Regarding #systemd, #LWN summed up comments by Luca Boccassi:

> The systemd v258 release took about nine months of development.
>
> Boccassi said that "everybody was unhappy" with the long release cycles,
> so the project decided to try to do a release every quarter. "We have two

It has been 0 (zero) days since I fought multiple levels of customer disservice chatbots to make it through to the first human so I could report that their massive e-commerce platform's website was failing in non-Chrome browsers because their hundreds or thousands of webdevs that keep their […]

There has been lots of commentary on Linus Torvalds' remarks at the (Linux Kernel) Maintainers Summit, so I won't go there except to say that I agree with most of the negative takes I've seen. However, when the participants were asked to summarize their worst pain point in kernel development […]

I recently bought another set of "System 4" bits with more bits that will let me consolidate the stuff I carry to Repair Cafes. It's the "75965" SKU and has 61 driver bits plus a handle, extension, 1/4" adapter to let you use 4mm bits in a standard 1/4" hex drive drill/electric driver, and a […]

It's like, what - when the viewscreen's on the fritz they need to open the curtains and look […]

Playing the game where I look at the delivery driver driving farther and farther away from my house with my food on the little map in the app and helplessly yelling ineffectual driving directions at my phone.

You're too patient. I'd be tempted to just ask back "What makes you think this needs colour?" (or worse).

I think people that make these kinds of (generously) assumptions or (more accurately) criticisms are people who simply do not create on their own, and probably never have, so […]

I'm not trying to be difficult, really, but when I'm asked "why didn't you make this photo in color?", they might as well ask "why wasn't this rendered as a sculpture?" or "why didn't you write a poem?". They're all just different media.
