I am a BIG fan of 24/96 and it sounds/feels MUCH different to me than 24/48 - it has a 3D quality I associate with analog. I can hear a difference in 24/88.2 as well — it's a little rougher somehow than 96, maybe good for certain things. *Most* engineers do not like it when I say things like this 🤘😹

I'm assuming the tracks/data are not objectively different, but that the slight difference in sound guides the mixer to make, possibly, slightly different choices. Verified with an engineer we trust, last year, that ProTools different *visual interfaces* sound distinct from each other 🫠

It's VERY subtle but... Logic sounds (to me) a little rounder & friendlier (like all apple stuff increasingly looks, for good or ill), ProTools a little crisper &... the tracks sound thinner? not as in treblier exactly but as in recording on 24-track vs 4- or 8-track tape?

gave in & downloaded protools to help me navigate a complex project and... it sounds different than Logic.
