@oxfordlabour.bsky.social - We should never be opening LTNs. Apart from anything else (‘there are downsides for cyclists’; yeah children as well), it sends the message that residents have been lent them and they can be reclaimed by their (car) owners whenever they need them. #roaduserhierarchy

There’s also this piece, which I think of as basically descriptive

It's easy to get all uppity and point out that speed control is being applied to among the least dangerous and destructive modes of mobility. But what if, instead, we used this moment to (re)launch a conversation on using technology to regulate the speed of all vehicles.

Cars are taking ever more public space: Join the movement to stop cars spreading all over our streets:

I wonder whether London is moving towards Dutch levels of cycling (👏) but without building Dutch levels of parking infrastructure. If we want to future proof share bikes/cycling in the daily life of Londoners, the key is secure bike parking. Lots of it.

Reader: on this question, they really don't.

'Woke' ridicule. I'll give you some 'woke' ridicule: maybe this space-grabbing, child-menacing monster should be banned from all built-up environments?!

The real headline, of course, is that our streets and roads are being filled with monster SUVs, which represent a danger to everyone but particularly the most vulnerable road users (kids, pedestrians, cyclists). But sure let's talk about whether Jaguar's rebranding will work

And they claim to be the Party that will keep you safe 🤔

Potholes are the banal material meeting point of climate breakdown and heavier vehicles. If you build for a future where more people have the option to get around safely by bike, you will have also addressed the pothole problem!

Thanks to @brooklynspoke.bsky.social and @sgoodyear.bsky.social for bringing the @thewaroncars.bsky.social book tour to Oxford. It was fun showing you around and a great evening.

As we wrap up a brilliant Labour conference, @rezinachowdhury.bsky.social articulated 4 asks from government that would help local leaders roll out active travel schemes

Are bridges, filters and indicators not on the list 🤔

Such a fun, joyful Kidical Mass - 180 people of all ages and abilities cycling around the streets of Oxford! Fantastic to see so many children riding with their families and enjoying the freedom of cycling together.

Cyclox wants to see safe cycling on our roads. Please support us at cyclox.org

Our local paper is known as the Oxford Fail, the toxic clickbait factory of Osney Mead (due to be regenerated). The penultimate paragraph is why. The hospitals are well away from traffic filters. Needless to say, the lazy hack didn’t bother checking his facts before fabricating disinformation.

Misinformation about Oxford’s traffic filters from miserable anti-Oxford rag, the Oxford Fail.

180 riders filled the streets today in Oxford's most joyous bike ride, Kidical Mass. Our photographer Roger Close was there to capture the action. Can you spot yourself?

Does getting them to fold injury and death on the road into their operative sense of public safety count 😉
