Three years after the horrific October 7 terrorist attacks, we remember the lives taken, the families forever changed, and all those still carrying unimaginable grief. May the memories of those lost be a blessing, and may we continue working toward lasting peace and security.

National Night Out connects the community with law enforcement to strengthen trust and public safety. Thank you to the brave men and women of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and North Las Vegas Police Department who run towards danger when others seek shelter.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This month, we honor the survivors, remember the lives lost, and stand with the individuals and families navigating a breast cancer diagnosis.

I joined survivors, families, first responders, and members of our Las Vegas community as we broke ground on the Forever One Memorial. I’m grateful to everyone who has worked to make this memorial possible and ensure future generations never forget. Forever One. Forever Vegas Strong.

Congratulations to Dr. Sandra Richtermeyer, Nevada State University’s new president. NSU has grown and expanded throughout the years, including a new campus coming to North Las Vegas. I’m excited to see NSU’s continued success under President Richtermeyer’s leadership.

Celebrated the graduates from the U.S.VETS transitional housing program. No veteran who served and protected our country should have to experience homelessness. Orgs like U.S.VETS provide programs and services that are essential for so many veterans in our community transitioning into civilian life.

I joined Commissioner William McCurdy II to light up the iconic Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, and to celebrate the Latino and Hispanic families, businesses, artists, activists, and community organizers who strengthen Nevada everyday.

I joined the Moapa Band of Paiutes and Arevon to celebrate the Moapa Solar Project’s 10-year anniversary and recognize the people who made this project possible. Tribal communities continue to play an important role in Nevada’s energy future and I look forward to seeing what the next chapter brings.

Washington Republicans’ OBBB changed the gambling tax deduction and will force players to pay taxes on money they’ve LOST. We must reverse this unfair tax that is hurting Nevada's economy, and we’re one step closer to getting it done now that our bill has passed out of committee in the House.

Congratulations to Brooke Wheatley, the 2027 Nevada State Teacher of the Year. Brooke is a CCSD teacher at Valley High School and will represent Nevada at CCSSO’s upcoming National Teacher of the Year Program.
