For Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re recognizing the workers that helped shape the labor movement. Today we honor the 10k+ pecan shellers, mostly Mexican American women, who went on strike for 37 days in 1938 after wages were cut. They won recognition for their union & a raise.

Enemies of Labor is back! Enemy number 9? Tom Girdler – the head of Republic Steel, and one of the most aggressive opponents of steelworker organizing in the 1930s. On May 30, 1937, his anti-union campaign reached a head in what is known as the Memorial Day Massacre.

Today, we honor the bravery, resilience, and unity that carried our nation through September 11, 2001. We remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the first responders, workers and everyday people who showed extraordinary courage in the face of tragedy.
