I’ve been thinking lately about imperfection, creating joy, and shaping our own reality. I’ve written about it my new piece, with a new mixtape and words on some of the music bringing recent comfort.

There's something special about holding music in your hands. For this album, I wanted the release to feel personal. The cassette is published in a limited edition of 25, duplicated 1:1 from the digital masters. Each copy has been made one-at-a-time, and assembled with love. #cassette

Shade is the form light takes when it meets something solid. A shape traced along the surface.
 It's been one week since Shade Songs has arrived, along with the first glimpse of Autumn. I’m so happy to find the work resonating, and grateful for the kind words and support.

I wanted my new album to feel peaceful without pretending that everything is okay. There’s darkness in the record. Movement, and uncertainty. But there’s also warmth and beauty, and the feeling of being surrounded by something larger than yourself. Autumn is lovely, but brings a touch of sadness.

There’s a lot happening in the world that I don’t know how to make sense of. Creating music has always given me a way to spend some time somewhere else. Not necessarily to escape, but to make a little room for myself.

When I started making my new album, I wanted to create the feeling of sitting beneath a large tree. 
 As the music developed, I found deeper meaning in the concept of shade, exploring how we can learn from this natural balance of light and shadow.
