That’s a question for @electionsbc.bsky.social !
Back to work after a little time off
Anything happen while I was gone??

Anyway, here’s my first story on BC’s provincial election
Worth your read if you’re eligible to cast a ballot!
Not to mention real-time translation and other incredibly useful functions I genuinely wonder a) if there were any women involved in their development and b) if anyone raised the concerns they’re only responding to now
These guys are so out of touch We’re going to go from the public deriding these things as “perv glasses” to pervagotchi (likely something catchier and even more cutting)
I suspect part of the calculus was the very fact it’s during a muni elxn: sure, they don’t get to run NDP-affiliated folks from muni level, but right wing parties can’t do that either Voters’ll be annoyed for a day or two but will they cast a protest vote against NDP for that reason alone? Doubtful
So Eby’s justification is “building a firebreak against Trump” but he hasn’t articulated why he couldn’t do that with his (slim) majority
He tried tying BC’s conservative parties to the decision citing Trumpian ideas, but again: how does that justify an election now?

In the article, Rustad said he sees a 95% chance at amalgamating two of them 🤨 But given the timeline, I don’t see how that’s possible before they’re in campaign mode I gotta believe this scenario will be analyzed in poli sci textbooks and uni classes for years
I try to keep it fresh
Boy howdy, if Eby does drop the writ tomorrow it’s going to be a circus for the next 4 weeks
I love it there I just wish they had more houseware!
I’ve been trying to think of what justification the premier could give British Columbians for calling a snap election as early as tomorrow (!) The only justification (albeit thin) would be that with the opposition in disarray, the lesiglative process is compromised Any other theories?
I’m so sorry, that should be such a basic thing
It’s been an issue for about two decades
Do we finally have a minister who’s going to fix the interoperability issues in BC’s healthcare system?
It’s a tall order but he seems keen
My latest:
Whether you use it or not, AI is starting to have an impact on all of us
My latest for CTV News:
Right?? It's kind of a shame this stuff won't make it into the history textbooks because the big stuff is so bonkers
The big question is who initiated the call?
Me: impossible to properly pop those weeds without a tool
Somewhere Kareem Allam must be breaking into a cold sweat that he's not being brought up in these conversations
RIP my credit card 💸💸💸
That sounds like so much fun
