UK here. Mid 90s, coming home with a load of friends after clubbing, early hours of the morning, and Mole People was on somewhere. Thought: yeah, we like this, we'll keep an eye out for it. And it was a vague looking out for a while - we remember the Deadly Mantis as well - but it […]
We walked over 11 kilometres today, which would be better if we hadn't stopped in four pubs and ordered takeaway when we got home, but we didn't do this for health reasons anyway so yay us.
Moved the mouse and coughed and I think I followed back someone, unfollowed them, then followed them again and put up a prompt to confirm one of those actions I then denied because who the hell knows what actually happened.
Typical evening of us watching a quiz programme on TV: "It's B. B. It's B. It's B. B. B, mate. It's B. B. For the love of fuck it's B, you tool. B. B. Fucking B. Fucking told you, you twat." We like quizzes. They're a genteel, cerebral thing.
The pub jukebox isn't just playing Chas 'n' Dave, it's only bloody playing Chas 'n' Dave live in concert. Gertcha!
In a pub and Daydream Believer by The Monkees has come on the jukebox. Portsmouth are playing Southampton tomorrow. If you aren't already imagining the lyrics being changed to "Scummer bastards" in this pub then you don't know football rivalries.
Our friend @mathzy is out on a walk around Portsea Island today with some other friends. We've also been walking a fair deal, down to central #Portsmouth for the Pride event, then a bus across to Eastney, more walking, a distillery, more walking, then a pub that we used to call The Old Racist […]
Popped down to the Guildhall today to take a look around the Portsmouth Pride Community Event. Basically a chance for the stallholders who lost the chance to sell anything when Pride was cancelled due to the weather this year to try again. Some events going on […]
Yeah, we're supposed to be hitting A Coruña on the day of the strike and it's the last port of call on the way home from the Canaries. The problem is, if they don't arrange an alternative Portuguese or French port on the route then we're looking at four sea days to finish the cruise […]
Checked in for our upcoming cruise and realised that we're due to stop in Spain on the planned general strike on November 11th. That's not going to work. Hopefully, the cruise line will divert us somewhere else. I wouldn't be displeased at a swap to Leixões for Porto in Portugal as there are no […]
For #SchiffsSamstag here's Orange Friendship, a Singapore-flagged bulk carrier sitting in Gatun Lake in 2023 with us as we both await clearance to transit the Agua Clara locks out of the Panama Canal and through to the Atlantic side.

Stephanie Mills passed me by in the 80s, but I quite enjoyed that.
How embarrassing. Kim Wilde and I are wearing the same outfit.
I love the audience in Soul Train performances.
There was a time when if something like S Club 7 came on I'd groan and mutter about how shit music is, but the passage of time and having to sit through nearly two full episodes of 2000s #TOTP has a way of magically transforming this into a joyous slice of heaven.
Sadly, food has been consumed and there's no darts or rugby on tonight so we've got no real excuse left not to sit through some 2000s episodes of #TOTP in semi-solidarity with Mastodon's other music masochists.
It's been more of a struggle to book a private flu jab than we'd realised, with online information for local places offering the service being horribly wrong. Thankfully, my wife overheard a customer ask about it at our nearest one - which says online that it doesn't do them - and found out that […]
Sounds fabulous to me, but then, I feel the way about train travel that you feel about this so it's all horses for courses. Although if I had that sort of money lying around then it might go on something a bit more broken up.
Southsea Castle, built in a style to take gun warfare into consideration and to defend Portsmouth from French invasion threats under the direction of Henry VIII in 1544. That attack came a year later when the French landed on the Isle of Wight. It's said that […]
I like Richard Ayoade but he's not been a good fit for this series of #Taskmaster in my opinion. It's a show that really needs contestants to not be afraid of making complete tits of themselves and his comedy persona is too reserved for it.
