February 10th 1934. Another local away game for the first team (Barnsley,) another morale-boosting Sheffield theatre trip after it. And after having seen the Rolling Stones last time, it is perhaps fitting that the players have their first experience with LSD.
with six minutes left, to leave Chesterfield 3-1 winners. We remain two points behind leaders Stoke, with a game in hand.
The reserves surrendered a 3-0 half-time lead at Stockport to draw 3-3, while the “A” team won 4-3 at Notts County to keep them top of the Derbyshire Senior League. #CFC100
by a Cookson penalty on 22, after he had been bundled over in the box.
The second half saw the Spireites turn up the heat. Cookson was again fouled on 65 and again scored from the spot. Good wing play by Fisher and Hopkinson kept the pressure up and Cookson was able to compete his hat-trick #CFC100
The veteran former Barnsley full-back Jack Gittins was signed this week for a £275 fee and went straight into the side to face Tranmere at Saltergate today. Both sides played at a fast pace and the score stood at 1-1 at half-time, with Charlton’s 14th-minute opener cancelled out #CFC100

MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS (1972)
Anyone taking that long in League Two this season would find the ref counting him out, and awarding a goal kick.

This must not NOT be seen as a bribe, electioneering or anything unseemly. Buuut Infantino’s FIFA, under pressure and desperate to secure support for March’s election, has decided to boost the coffers of the 211 FA/voters by increasing funding by $15m for each to $25m irrespective of need. 🍾 🍾
Absolutely outstanding. 10/10.
The team went north on 25/12/1933 and stayed there for five days, during which they drew with Darlo and lost to Gateshead. All this is in the 1933 minutes, which are now fully transcribed on the site. You'll have to wait for 1934 for the inquest!
On 4/11/1933 the team stopped in Sheffield on their way back from Rotherham to have tea. Afterwards they went to see a revue called "Hello, Beautiful" at the Empire Theatre. In doing so it would appear that they became the first Chesterfield footballers ever to see the Rolling Stones live.
No; the board were confident that they were OK and didn't cave in. No more was heard of him.
The bloke who dobbed Leeds in it later had a trial at Chesterfield. When they declined to keep him on at the end of it, he threatened to grass them up to the FA for illegal payments to players...
the home side; The Spireites controlled the rest of it to emerge 1-0 winners.
Staveley Town knocked the “A” Team out of the Derbyshire Senior League Benevolent Cup, winning 3-1. With the reserves having no game, Chesterfield’s team was a curious mixture of 2nd XI players and triallists. #CFC100
With the wind now driving rain into their faces Walsall were gradually forced back. With 17 minutes gone Hopkinson got away for Chesterfield and found the well-positioned Cookson with a cross. Jimmy made no mistake, notching his twelfth goal in ten games. This knocked the stuffing out of #CFC100
Bert Ralphs was tried in the problem right-half position.
Walsall, with the twin advantage of the wind and the slope had the better of the first half but Birch stood up to the task, Hadlington missed a sitter and The Saddlers hit the bar twice before half time arrived with the score at 0-0. #CFC100
Both sides were forced into changes before Walsall and Chesterfield met at Fellows Park today. The home side gave Hadlington a debut at inside-right, while the visitors introduced 20-year-old Albert Worthy, of Pilsley, at right-back in place of the injured Saxby. #CFC100
The minutes for 1932 are transcribed into Word format and live on the site. I have to say that some of the new manager's recording style tested the idea of "type what you see!"
Go here and scroll down. Coming next: 1933!
The most impressive thing about Josh Koroma's finishing is the vision and timing he shows in calmly stroking the ball through a forest of legs and into the net. I bet he's a demon on the windmill at crazy golf.
Bloody daft time for a football match.
