This was a great event; SRFC is the best venue I know for reaching readers. The quality of questions was great and so was the beer.
Th costumes and characters panel at British Fantasy Con in Glasgow. Really fun, great discussions, met new friends, got to dress in full character kit. Great fun. Day 3 of the #soulstealer tour!
A long, hard, wonderful day launching Soulstealer into the world with many thanks to my new squire and agent @steviefinegan.bsky.social and everyone from @gollancz.bsky.social and @thebrokenbinding.bsky.social
Bless you Jeremy and all your works😊 I hope you love it
One main protagonist, one very important side character. You’ll understand better when you read it😊
Sort of… it’s complicated.
Just wow.
Thanks RJ. Will I see you at Glasgow?
Victorian crossbows are an essential element in my new fantasy novel, out today. I do try to do my research 😊
Out today (in the UK) with a launch at @thebrokenbinding.bsky.social tonight!
But if I were Richard Sharpe and I wanted that French sentry potted at fifty yards in silence…
My first guess would be poaching but the weapon in Tod’s hands is made as well as a Purdy or a Holland and Holland sporting rifle. TBH I own a lot of books on English sport (hunting and fishing ) in the 18th and 19th c. And… I don’t know.
Victorian Crossbows edition of #writingfighting with Tod of [email protected] because he’s the expert.
Yes. I have pretty much everything and with my friend Chris got about 1/2 way through a campaign but summer is for camping and reenactment and fishing 😊
Preparing for some anti-Colonial gaming. Beja ca. 1885
Many thanks!
Wow this is directly applicable to my sci fi novel thanks very much!
My friend Fil Walker has done some extensive research on both construction and maintenance of military crossbows. I think his findings can be summed up that most Italian crossbowmen had to be guildsman to have the skills to build and maintain their weapons.
