🧠 Today is World Mental Health Day. Mental health is a human rights issue. Our mental health is shaped by the conditions in which we live: whether we have secure housing, a decent income, stable work and access to healthcare free from discrimination.

🔥 Human rights belong to everyone. As far-right politics gains ground, we must reject division, protect the rights we have, and go further to make economic, social and cultural rights real in law and practice. New statement developed by Just Fair & the UK ESCR Network

🖊️ More than 1 in 5 people in the UK is living in poverty.

We can change this. The socio-economic duty is a practical tool that can help public authorities consider how their decisions affect inequality.

Write to your MP and call for action: justfair.org.uk/write-to-you...

🍛 Britain has enough food. What millions of people don’t have is enough money to afford it. A petition is calling on Andy Burnham MP to support a Right to Food Act and action to tackle the root causes of food insecurity. 👉 Sign

Access to decent, secure and fairly paid work, alongside education, training and support, is shaped by wider economic and social conditions.

Young people deserve pathways into decent work, with rights, security and a voice at work.

💼 Today is World Day for Decent Work. It’s also a chance to ask what happens to young people who are outside work and education altogether.

The UK’s NEET figures aren’t simply about individual choices.

🟰 Poverty and inequality aren’t inevitable. They reflect choices about how our systems are designed and delivered.

The UK Gov has committed to bringing the socio-economic duty into force. We’re asking you to write to your MP and call for a strong, impactful duty.

Just Fair was proud to contribute directly to the Commission’s work, supporting our Lived Experience Advisory Board to give evidence and convening a UK ESCR Network meeting on the right to food. A right to food means tackling the causes, not just managing the crisis. 2/2

🍲 Food insecurity is not inevitable.

The Right to Food Commission found that millions of people across the UK are struggling to afford enough good food. The problem is not a lack of food, but a lack of income.

đź‘´ On #InternationalDayofOlderPersons we continue our call for a UN Convention on the rights of older people.

Older people are disproportionately affected by everyday rights violations, from NHS waiting times to social security cuts.
