Good to meet Prof. Mkumbo, Minister of Planning and Investment of Tanzania. We discussed opportunities to deepen our trade cooperation. I also raised our concerns about the follow-up of the inquiry into election violence and the court case of the opposition leader Tundu Lissu.

We also reaffirmed our humanitarian commitment to supporting patients from Gaza and facilitating medical evacuations to Jordan and spoke of the importance of protecting humanitarian and medical personnel, whose safety is essential to saving lives and delivering critical care. 2/2

Stronger ties with Syria serve our shared interests in regional stability, security and migration. NL support focuses on humanitarian support, reconstruction and conditions for safe, sustainable refugee return. I look forward to further cooperation with Min Raed al-Saleh.

Drone attacks in Sudan kill civilians and put aid workers at risk. The Netherlands strengthens efforts to ensure humanitarian access and protect aid workers and other civilians. The Coalition for Atrocity Prevention works to stop IHL violations and ensure accountability.

Women bear the brunt of war yet are often left out of peace efforts. Sudan is no exception. At the WPS Ministerial Event, I called for women’s participation, action on conflict-related sexual violence and accountability. We are increasing funding and encourage others to invest.

Specialised medical care is nearly unavailable in Gaza. Children are paying the price. Alongside our broader humanitarian support for Gaza, NL will contribute EUR 6 mln. to Jordan’s initiative to bring children there for treatment. We must act together to provide lifesaving care.

We know progress is possible when countries and civil society stand together. That is why we brought partners together today: to learn from what works, strengthen cooperation and make sure hard-won rights are not pushed backwards. 2/2

The growing anti-rights movement is putting human rights, SRHR and gender equality under increasing pressure. These are rights people have fought hard for. The Netherlands has long stood up for them, and we will continue to do so. 1/2

Good to meet UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for Sudan, Pekka Haavisto, and hear his perspective on the latest developments in Sudan, including around El Obeid. The Netherlands strongly supports his efforts and will continue working closely with him on Sudan.

Humanitarian needs are growing. The Netherlands will keep looking for ways to do more with others. Good to meet Dr Abdullah Al Rabeeah of KSrelief to explore deeper cooperation and discuss how we can strengthen humanitarian support across the region.

LGBTIQ+ rights are under growing pressure. Negative messaging and disinformation fuel intolerance. The Netherlands will keep promoting equal rights and work with civil society to counter these trends, online and offline. At the UN LGBTI Core Group, I called for joint action.

Sudan and its people are a priority for The Netherlands. The violence must end and humanitarian aid must reach people across Sudan. Good to meet Min Mohi El-Din Salem to discuss developments and how we can support the Sudanese people in their quest for peace and a transition to civilian rule.

Development cooperation works because countries work together. But the system behind it is under real pressure. Today I spoke with EU colleagues about its future. The Netherlands will keep pushing for the reforms needed to keep it strong, effective and ready for what comes next.

Innovaties in hiv-preventie moeten beschikbaar zijn voor iedereen die het nodig heeft. Voor veel vrouwen en meisjes is dat niet het geval. Daarom investeert Nederland € 7,5 miljoen in het EmpowHER fonds, zodat vrouwen en meisjes zelf kunnen bepalen welke optie bij hen past.

Vrouwenrechten en gendergelijkheid staan wereldwijd onder druk. Dit kabinet kiest ervoor daar internationaal duidelijk stelling tegen te nemen. Goed om met WO=MEN te spreken over onze inzet en de cruciale rol van maatschappelijke organisaties daarin.
