[Sport / NFL] Look, go birds and Fly Eagles Fly and all those good things, sure. …but have we maybe considered playing with an offensive line that is any stronger than rice paper? I feel it could really help.

[Food / salad] …No gumbo this time. Fried chicken, tonight.

Tonight’s #Coleslaw in progress reminds me, or at least is making me think, of New Orleans.

A metal bowl filled with finely sliced purple cabbage, leeks, carrots, and some herbs all tossed together. There is no dressing yet.

No beach or #AmperSand action from me, today, but my sister and her son sent me these, which they made on the shore in Portishead! Whoop!

In the words of the mighty Arlo Guthrie: “…And friends, they may think it’s a movement!”

Thanks to some bigots with too big a platform, the subjects of race / ethnicity / nationality / identity have been appearing across The UK Media a lot, recently. And honestly: my knowledge of these subjects is a bit limited. Certainly I’m not sure I could pass even a GCSE-level exam on it […]

@WiteWulf Yeah the fog was rubbish for Mount Rushmore and Devils Tower, but I'd say on average it was worth it, just for that Bison! Taken leaning out the passenger window of our van, IIRC.

@WiteWulf I went there as part of a road trip once. The weather... wasn't ideal.

Listening to this more properly this morning as I was absent for significant chunks of it last night. It’s full of nice things! And thanks so much to the illustrious host for playing Maud! That got a big grin.

Some pics from the Jazz Sabbath show last night. Jack Tustin on upright bass.

[Sports / NFL] Sigh. Go birds, I guess.

Presumably a Philadelphia Eagles fan…

I realise that, over the years, I’ve taken several versions of basically the same photo looking between the Forth Bridges, now.

Sort of pleasing, really, but I can’t really explain why.

...I think the Forth Road Bridge probably often misses out on peoples' attention because of its older and younger siblings on either side. But it's a handsome thing, actually, and I really like looking up under that veritable spaceframe of a deck from Port Edgar.

Looking up at the pale grey Forth Road Bridge against darker grey cloudy skies, from the south west. It's a classic suspension bridge design with quite an open road deck that admits a lot of sunlight in amongst the sea of structural members, at least when it's coming from the right angle!

Snaps from a quick jaunt over the Forth with the kidbots yesterday, for a little walk and a big lunch.

A bent tree trunk catches a tiny beam of sunlight falling into the otherwise shady glen in which it sits. Behind the tree, is a waterfall.Two kids traipse along a narrow path running across a steep hillside, looking over a small glen on their left. The flat Forth Valley is just visible in the distance, stretching away from us under cloudy skies.Looking up to the sky from under some trees, we see the sun shining out over the top of a big fluffy cloud. The cloud has a brightened edge. A slightly abstract photo of parts of two bridges, shot against a cloudy sky. Across the top of the frame is the structure supporting the deck of the Forth Road Bridge, all grey but with strong contrast from the sunshine which shines part way through the mass of structural elements. Down at the bottom of the frame, part of the red diamand-shaped central tower of the Forth Bridge is visible, in the distance.

@drnoble Happy trails!

@daveybot.mastodon.scot.ap.brid.gyOct 2, 2026, 1:14 PM

@exchgr Exactly! It's the same kind of thing that led to Taylor Swift sharing writing credits for one of her songs with blimmin' Right Said Fred, even though the influence is doubtful at best.

Fear of litigation is such a crushing bore.
