For #weekwithoutdriving, we're spotlighting Seattleites who get around without a car and asking what more frequent bus service would mean to them.

You may know the Transit Fairy from cleaning up bus stops across the city and keeping our transit beautiful. 🧚

In 2012, a ballot measure to expand transit in Pierce County lost by just 700 votes. Now, 14 years later, transit is on the ballot again. Pierce Transit Prop 1 would transform what it's like to get around without a car. Read about Prop 1 and the Keep Pierce Moving campaign @theurbanist.org

Sound Transit’s new Pinehurst light rail station opens on September 30! We’ve been building more sidewalks, new protected bike lanes, and better connections to the station. Here are some tips to help you get to the new Pinehurst Station.

Everett Transit & Community Transit are better together. This would deliver a lot more bus service to the people of Everett, rather than cuts. Excited to rally for it with @snotrac.bsky.social

what I wrote to share at the @hoponboard.bsky.social Seattle Transit Measure kickoff party last night 👇

I was working on these remarks on my way in tonight on the 7 bus and it made me reflect about the choice I made when I first moved back to WA in 2018. Because I can't drive, it was super important for me to live somewhere with reliable transit, and when I started looking at where that was, the 7 bus stood out because of its frequency and reliability and how late it ran. And so that's how we picked where to live.

It's wonderful to live in a city that continues to expand transit access, and I'm excited to stand here today to support the Seattle Transit Measure so that more neighborhoods can have the kind of transit access we have in the Rainier Valley.

Nondrivers, including people like me with disabilities who can't drive, people who can't afford to drive or who are sharing a vehicle with other household members, people too young to drive, aging out do driving, who don't have valid licences and those who choose not to own cars, make up more than a third of our state population. That ratio is even higher here in Seattle.

For nondrivers like us, transit isn't optional — it's the difference between getting to a job, a medical appointment, or the grocery store, and not getting there at all.

We are here tonight to insist that all of us, whether we drive or not, deserve to be able to fully participate in community life.

Let's support the Seattle Transit Measure, and let's not forget about the Pierce measure transit too. Transit is freedom.

This month, @transpochoices.bsky.social is joining us to discuss the campaign to pass the Seattle Transit Measure! More buses & more homes go hand in hand. We need BOTH to create a more affordable, equitable, & sustainable Seattle. This is a chance to meet new people & get plugged in to this work!

This is what voters have made possible in Seattle. @transpochoices.bsky.social has been beating the drum for investment in transit in Puget Sound for 34 years. We are seeing the return on that investment.

What do you do if you can't catch a bus after a late-night shift? You're forced to take a $40 Uber. The Seattle Transit Measure on the ballot this November could change that.

The Yes for Buses campaign in Spokane has officially declared victory! Despite an opposition campaign that raised more than $288,000 from a few wealthy donors, voters renewed a sales tax to keep STA's buses and paratransit running for working people, students, seniors, and people with disabilities
