Roguelike Celebration is just over a week away! Pay whatever you can to join and support a range of talks, including my own that looks at intentionality in procgen narrative through the lens of Terry Riley's minimalist masterpiece In C. ti.to/roguelike-ce...

Apple’s auto-generated podcast chapters are mostly annoying but I do get a kick out of starting my day with Elf Criticism, thanks @rangedtouch.bsky.social
Disney version nails it, that’s how my Mum is feeling. The entryway is lined with more family photos and historic pics, and she was wanting to ask if they also decided to include the facts she knows of which family died in which rooms of that original house, or if that wasn’t cutesy enough.
My mum got in touch with the Revelstoke museum and the claim is the new folks tried to restore it but there was structural damage. The “scale it up and add a hot tub” part makes it harder to believe that historical preservation was top of mind.
They apparently did a 1.5x scale on everything when rebuilding it??? What????
Today’s capitalist dystopia - my family discovered my great grandpa’s house has been torn down and rebuilt as a luxury BnB new-historical-reproduction home. Complete with family photos and diary entries as selling points, from the biography my mum wrote and donated to the local museum. Wtf.
Add a new sponsorship tier - pay us enough for this to be our jobs, get a full week of roguelike!
Hey you can join my organizer bloc advocating for more talk slots at any time, who needs socializing anyway
I've been given the honor of giving the closing talk at this year's #Roguelike Celebration @roguelike.club, joining a stellar speaker lineup. I'd share my talk's title, but it would go over bsky's character limit! Check out the full program: www.roguelike.club/event2026.html
Hey look! I'm giving a talk this year! It's about Reactivity in Roguelikes, building characters that can feel alive and responsive to player action. You should come see it!
Our full schedule is up, and what an amazing one it is!
Our delightful alternate-sports themed MUD will be open for you to watch all of this goodness live on October 17-18!
This was *such* a good talk, major kudos to @martinpi.bsky.social who got through a whole breadth of ideas at such a measured pace. Always impressive to be both information-dense and relaxing to watch!
Very excited to be speaking at this event! Finally getting to talk about the games/proc gen influences in my art work :)
Come watch me talk about falling sand
The last is especially awesome because Dan Stormont and Michael Howk sent two separate submissions referencing the same inciting event and then very kindly agreed to band together and share the slot when we told them that we wanted both angles on the story instead of choosing just one!
Some personal highlights:
- Qud localization, obviously
- @everest.bsky.social on gamers yearning for the mines
- @droqen.bsky.social making a sudoku poem LIVE
- @codingcrafter.bsky.social on proc gen and pedagogy
- a 45 minute special on recovering and repairing the Hack sourcecode
The schedule for @roguelike.club is up! We’ve got yet another stunning lineup with multiple people who are such a good fit I had assumed they’d spoken already 🤣 Time is fake and it’s just over two weeks until the con so check it out, buy a ticket, come hang out!

The schedule's out - I'm speaking at the Roguelike Celebration again this year! My talk is titled "The City, The Street, The Lens" and it's about street photography, collisions in time and space and how to think about procedural generation differently.
