It wouldn’t be so bad if they were interesting, which some are. Some are just ‘I want a test of strength, battle me!!!’ and some are ‘go find these 15 pieces of my soul’ which are tedious nonsense

I started this side quest grind in Time Stranger about 37~ hours in, I’m now at 45 and finally cleared them all off but that wasn’t even the end because there’s one I can’t yet complete and my rank isn’t maxed. Siiiiiigh.

Already these Yozakura Family songs are so much better than whatever they tried to do for the first half of S2

I appreciate that cloud cyberattack has sent everyone into security overdrive and that is surely hell for all involved on multiple fronts, but I hope Animate opens itself back up to overseas traffic soon. I wanna order next months books. T_T

Yeaaaah, the team can be so fragile just because boss gets lucky or pulls off bullshit skills

It actually has launched already here, but you have to be on one of the highest tiers for it. And since they allow publishers to put content on there that are AI/MTL translations, I don't think we should be giving them a penny of support...

I’m not sure I did any of the optional bosses either, only if they were part of a side quest I was on I guess… Classic JRPG tropes tho, can’t go on without first preparing for an untimely demise that you could have come to all game!

Horror Collector looking like my first and only (?) drop this season. Gonna give it next week to see, but that first episode was just not good at all.

Also from me the last couple days. Very different to Wandering Son, lol.

At the point in Digimon Time Stranger where the quests are breaking off into their own sub quests and I feel buried in them. Why did you wait for the point of no return to spawn all these?!

Wandering Son makes a grand return to the English market, so I got to read it for the first time!

FUJOSHING OUT!! captures what happens when a Scottish otaku moves to Japan and faces real culture shock. By mixing expat struggles with wholesome fandom connection, this new manga is winning over readers in Japan.

Shocking to see a Kino license in 2026!

Ooooh!!!

The thing is the pair in 1122 are an absolute disaster, but I think there’s a lot about how their relationship is portrayed that’s quite raw. Even when it gets silly for dramatic effect, there’s a lot you can take from it at a base level.

Since I’ve been reading That’s Not Love, I felt like going back to 1122: For a Happy Marriage. Since I’ve read the manga before, I started the drama adaptation for a new perspective. It’s not bad so far, Mitsuki Takahata was a good cast for Ichiko!

Our summer season roundup is out! A lot of good coverage here for the titles that remained with us through the all too hot period. I talk Sparks of Tomorrow, Love Unseen Beneath the Clear Moonlit Sky and I Want to Love You Until Your Dying Day

Kou always struck me as pretty stoic in Tokyo Xanadu (kind of like Rean in the first Cold Steel), but our Kyoto lead seems to be sort of a doofus in a largely endearing way. I love him already

Enjoyed revisiting the one bit of animated Monogatari that I actually like (sorry), but I do think the trilogy was a better way to handle it.

Square Enix have been proving pretty good for having a nice variety of things
