PS, if you aren’t Canadian and don’t recognize the sculpture on the right, let me introduce you to Terry Fox, Canadian national hero. As a bone cancer survivor who narrowly avoided an amputation through experimental surgery I have a lot of affection for his story. terryfox.org/terrys-story/

Two productive meetings for me today, both with staffers, neither with the party in government. Both included support for at minimum the goals of the action plan, and some concrete planned actions coming out of this. Now to charge my phone and head to the reception!

Bike helmets are not permitted in the senate! They checked it.

A claim tag reading “unauthorized item ticket” from the parliamentary protection service.

The first Action Plan made a huge difference for organized queer life in Canada - especially for small organizations and those serving intersectional communities (2 Spirit, Black, rural, Francophone, newcomers, etc). We need continued investment to keep the momentum alive.

In true Ottawa fashion, I’m joining @queermomentum.ca and many other orgs in today’s lobby day for the renewal and expansion of the 2SLGBTQIA+ Action Plan… and I’m doing it with a bike helmet clipped to my purse. Follow along to see what I’m doing today!

On October 6th, Rainbow Haven is headed to Parliament Hill to speak up for Two-Spirit, queer and trans people.
rainbow havenWe are joining queer, trans and allied organizations from across Canada for a Queer Day of Action calling on the Government of Canada to Renew and Expand the Federal 2SLGBTQIA+ Action Plan. We're bringing our message to Ottawa -

Ooh, my daughter might like this (she just finished Heartstopper). Is it for sale anywhere in Ottawa, by chance?

This is a great, creepy read - highly recommend!

Thanks to the bike nerds at MEC I now know that this was my seat’s weird back rubbing on my cargo basket. One saddle scrounged from their spare parts bucket and ten dollars later, my bike is quiet.

I feel like someone’s written some books about this topic? Maybe featuring spaceships, that would make it fun.

I really like imagining what fictional characters would do in different situations…which is why I write fanfic. Because if I want to see the paper dolls in my head do something I think about it, and then write it down. Why does AI want to do my hobby for me?

I don’t know if it’s the same one Sonia used, but I used this to prep for my grad school language exam and it’s amazing. (I already spoke French fairly well, but this made it possible for me to translate at a high level with a week’s practice.)

I think this guy right here might be the best option. archive.org/details/intr...

When I had my interview at uOttawa the first stop my guide took me to was the departmental espresso machine. (There was then some comedy because no one had checked if the milk was fresh…it was not.)

I could take on some of this, depending on turnaround and need.

This is a great intro to minimal computing in education. It’s also making me think about recent conversations about the value of friction for learning - are we burning resources we don’t have to make learning “frictionless,” which then undermines the whole process?

Summoning #bikesky for help: my front wheel on my trike is making this noise. I’ve cleaned and lubed the axel and it hasn’t made a difference. Brakes were replaced a month ago (probably about 150km). Wtf is wrong, and is it something I can DIY, or do I need to go to a shop?

@ajnabieh.bsky.socialSep 20, 2026, 7:17 PM

Omg, I love it!

It’s a purple-adjacent blue, but I think it’s on the blue side, yeah. Definitely not the color in the mockup! My tween and I had a fight about which pride flag this candle looks like and she STILL insists it is the lesbian flag, which is CLEARLY the wrong answer, right???

Screenshot from discord. At the top, the nonbinary flag and the lesbian flag. Next, a candle that is purple , yellow, clear, purple. Then the text “which one is closer”

This is a great piece on universal design for learning (UDL).
