The first review of this album I've read that doesn't take cheap shots at 'gatekeepers' and such. I still hate the album though.

Totally. And like I said, 99% of it is laughably terrible. But when a singer can rock a stage like this...

It's really quite simple: I love watching these mega schlager pop shows on German tv for laughs, because they're so bad. It's like Eurovision on steroids, and most artists are truly awful. With one exception: Helene Fischer, the biggest star of the bunch, who happens to be an astounding singer.

2.5 hours in and the queen still hasn't graced us with her presence. It's absolutely excruciating. 🤣

In case you didn’t know, the album cover for Hope Is the Thing with Feathers is actually an image of six-by-six-foot patchwork quilt made by textile artist Uzoma Samuel Anyanwu, based on a photograph by Ebru Yildiz. Two days before the album came out, I finally got to see this masterpiece in person.
