Attention UK Columbo fans. Poupee Boucar is beginning her immortal [and possibly unending] version of Volare on 5USA now...
John Wayne only ever starred in one film with an exploding helicopter, and naturally enough The Duke swaggers away from the carnage. From THE GREEN BERETS (1968)

New Schlock Pit post!
And itβs my notes on the first four films by action specialists Mark Neveldine & Brian Taylor, CRANK (2006), PATHOLOGY (2008), CRANK 2: HIGH VOLTAGE (2009) and GAMER (2009).
Watched NIGHT OF THE BIG HEAT (1967) tepid alien invasion thriller. The low budget means action is largely confined to a pub where the cast greet ET's arrival by knocking back lager and whiskey. It's pretty boring, but Jane Merrow raises the temperature by rubbing ice cubes over herself. Awooga!
It's a cult classic for a reason, and it's on our lists. π

Fun fact: Colonel Sanders (yes, that one) has appeared in more films with an exploding helicopter than Al Pacino. The fried chicken king briefly appeared in HELL'S BLOODY DEVILS (1970) which features a chopper fireball. Meanwhile, Al Pacino has yet to make a film to interest us...
Friends, I penned a review of Strategic Command for @bulletproofpod.bsky.social latest Michael Dudikoff tribute.
Check out my piece and see where the film ranked in the Dude's post Cannon output.
Thank goodness we now have the internet!
Watched FOR THE LOVE OF BENJI (1977) 'Benji' is the best dog actor I've ever seen. The canine Marlon Brando. And given that Benji can only bark, he's about as easy to understand as the great method mumbler himself.
Exploding helicopters are the secret spice in any great film.

Friends, I recently guested on the True Bromance Podcast to discuss the modern classic and film that many people [ok, just me] are calling the "thinking man's Heat", DEN OF THIEVES. Do yourself a solid and make sure you check it out.
