Fk the rest, amirite 🤪
Absolutely love to see it. While the question of "But will businesses do?!" when talking about improving a city for cycling and walking is moot, because cars and delivery trucks still exist in the most walkable places...It can be eye opening for many that you CAN use a bike for business!
Fun fact, people delay leaving a parking spot if someone is waiting for them to leave. Longer still if there is a honk involved.
Just wait a bit, BC will catch up soon 🫠
😎
This is what motonormativity looks like. It stems from the lack of interest or experience of a place or a way of life that offer convenient and safe alternatives to driving.
Next time you hear someone say "This isn't (insert great cycling city)" Just hit em with "You're right! Better get started so we can catch up!"
Today's announcement from ABC that they plan to remove traffic calming in neighbourhoods that badly need it will have dire and long-reaching consequences - and it's actually about much more than banana barriers. Our statement:
My cynical brain says it's to prevent a desire path from peds taking the obvious route.
What a disgrace. First term was to cancel future plans, the second is to tear everything down.
This is a HUGE red flag for transportation in Vancouver. Ken Sim is vowing to repeal Gregor Robertson's 2017 delegation of authority to the chief engineer on road allocation. This would mean that every single bike lane and traffic calming scheme has to go to council for a public hearing and vote.
Sometimes I'll leave mistakes on pupos so that they know i'm real.
We've gone through all the platforms & past actions, and today we're releasing our final all-in-one-place Vancouver City Council voting guide! Read this if you think vision zero - and all adjacent issues (climate, safety, equity) - should be an election issue.
It's incredibly frustrating on a bike. Red wave, every time.
What frustrates me about our car culture is that it’s not humble or self-aware at all. It’s not “I need this tool for a task but I recognize the danger it poses to others”. It’s “oh you think speed limits should be enforced? fuck you”.
And what is 50... Just right?
I look forward to seeing you!
Granville Island used to be the worst place in Vancouver for bike thefts. So I left my bike there for 3 weeks to see if that's still the case... @shifter.info @wearehub.bsky.social

😅 Agreed! It's usually the second most cited reasons folks don't bike. More secure parking everywhere!
