A cast of the skull of 'Stan', one of the most complete Tyrannosaurus rex skeletons ever discovered, has been put on display in the dining hall at Reuben College. The skull is on loan from the Oxford University Museum of Natural History (who rather conveniently have two in their collection).

This criticism of heat pump subsidies also misunderstands how energy (probably all capital intensive transitions) happen. First those that can afford to do so become early adopters. The people who bought the first $1,000 dollar Iphone paved the way for the rest to follow.

I'm really pleased with the video we commissioned of Oxford Energy Day - gives a great snapshot of the event and key themes in three minutes. I just wish I could speak as clearly and eloquently as my colleague Paul Shearing @oxengsci.bsky.social , who introduces the film...

BIG NEWS: Up to 75% of global energy demand could be electrified by 2050 with technologies we already have.

Progress is slow and the barriers are mostly political and institutional.

Today we launch the Oxford Martin Electrification Accelerator to change that.

How could you understand your local area's carbon footprint?

Impact is a digital visualisation tool that helps you calculate your community’s carbon emissions. It works for parishes, wards and local authority areas.

🍄 Fungi season alert 🍄 We don't meant to alarm anyone, but the best time of the year has arrived. Check out these specimens found at Sheffield Park and Garden. Behold: orange peel fungus, fly agaric, rounded earth star and cauliflower fungus

I wonder if it really matters if they see you reading on your own, obviously they do see you reading as you read to them. In any case, as you say, largely incompatible with the small child years.

I, and a team of others across are updating our global heat pump policy toolkit. We would love to know if you think there are any super cool/novel policy and technology examples that we should include in the new version. Please reach out!

Some fascinating reflections on energy resilience, environmental security and national security and technical and socio-technical solutions from all our #OxfordEnergyDay plenary speakers. Fun fact: engineers have worked with origami experts to design new wave machines! @oxengsci.bsky.social

Really good, insightful research from my colleague Labib. Looking at how households can integrate e-cargo bikes into their lives, what support is needed to ensure these bikes can replace many car journeys & the multiple benefits of doing so.

Thank you for sharing this poem. A friend died recently, unexpectedly, and the poem's reflections on the benefits of not knowing an experience is the last of its kind really resonated.
