Social work is valuable work. It is also emotionally intense, challenging, and sometimes exhausting. That's why it's important social workers know their rights and are prepared to defend them collectively. I was proud to speak at the UNISON's social work seminar yesterday.

At 2pm on Monday 28th September, UNISON will hold a rally outside Labour conference to send a message – you can't build a National Care Service while attacking migrant workers.

Real security starts at home – investing in decent work, quality public services, equality, climate action, democracy and peace. That's why UNISON is supporting the UCU's motion to the TUC to oppose increases to military spending.

TUC says: Migrant rights are workers' rights

The Government should absolutely introduce a wealth tax and increase taxation of the banking sector. Working people cannot take any more pressure on their purse. Time for the wealthiest pay for the investment our communities need.
