ok thats half the list; more later.
and on the topic of Destructive Yearning i finally read The Golden Fly (battan) since grabbing it at tcaf. I liked it. it's stunningly beautiful, of course. something about the mix of disdain and erotic fixation is a really good dynamic. I just wish it was longer. it felt too brisk
finished reading Notes of a Crocodile (Qiu Miaojin). it's really excellent. notebook 6 drove me up the fucking wall. the way the book is in dialogue with so much film. the asides to the crocodile chapters, and the spur of the moment fling with zhi rou. MWAH. love this book
i overuse the term a lot idk what to say except brechtian given a character limit. alas. also, Kamikaze Girls, just like Jojo and Kaurismaki's Leningrad Cowboys Go America, understands the fundamental humour and terror of dudes with oversized pompadours
i'm obsessed with this btssb dress. can you tell?
followed up by watching kamikaze girls. i coorded this with my meta ladder lace ribbon jsk. it's a fun movie to watch while on the couch in a huge petticoat. i don't know if i loved it hands down but i found momoko's musing very touching, and i fucked with the (brechtian?) unreality of many scenes
started the month watching the Alien Nine OVA which was, really excellent. weird and funny and stylish and scary. every character gets so delicately and subtly developed. i guess i also really appreciate that it never fully tips its hand. i really wanna read the manga. go watch it!! only 4 eps!
okie dokie, much belated September movies & books & etc thread ✨🐑📖

too many faces in your heart
also i'm just kinda bad at Posting and bad at Posting Regularly so i'd rather just check in with you all on a monthly basis. hi :))
don't get me wrong i keep track of stuff on letterboxd but i think it's probably best to work to dissolve the boundaries between games and film and art exhibits and books and fashion and what have you, if you're serious about Treating Games as Art or whatever
might post a monthly(ish) media-i-watched roundup. i think letterboxd, backlogged, ravelry, etc whatever media catalogue websites are all too overly specific and have a fan-ish culture to them. i have a text doc diary for all forms of media and it works better, and i don't forget my password :)
toronto… the big apple
hop on oomfie...... vanu needs you...
i was informed they actually made a good NS scout rifle which might be enough to get me back in the game for real
planetside 2 remains one of the best to ever do it. game that is miraculously still around 15 years down the line and just keeps trucking. all the exact same ping barks that i remember. grandpa vanu mumbling encouragement in my ear. prowlers still annoying as fuck
Chapter 4 “Big Blue Sky” of It’s You Who’s on is up! The first twelve pages to be more specific. 🐈⬛🐦⬛
