No nurses involved- to me no surprise at low uptake. Pharmacists have many skills, but if you want a vaccination program to succeed, you need the experts- our nursing colleagues. either in primary care or 0-19 services.
Same story for health visitors. If you want to shift to prevention you need the workforce to deliver it. www.kingsfund.org.uk/insight-and-...
Love Utrecht! Did you go to a good brown pub? Lived this one - commoners with pub cat.
Smith goes on: “My kids are all at school, but down a 60mph lane with no footpaths. Even if I could persuade them to do the 2 mile walk every morning, it would be monstrously unsaid to do so.” If only there was some sort of policy intervention that could make this route safer.
@ianwalker.bsky.social sounds familiar?
Will it be recorded? I’d love to hear this but can’t make it down to London sadly
@emmajourno.bsky.social I think there is a rich seam to mine, how the continuing divide between secondary and primary care, the lack of understanding of each vital role in NHS impacts each other.
Comments about what happens in primary care, with no context is disheartening to say the least. We look after people at the beginning and end of life all the time. It’s just what we do,
… if we worked ‘full time’ there would be no family doctors. I love consulting , I also love having opportunities in my working life outside the consulting room. I’m a partner and I wish I had the funding for our team to thrive-we could be amazing… having colleagues in secondary care make contrite..
I enjoyed this discussion, but as a primary care doctor tor, working in the same practice since 2002 it was contentious. Cradle to grave care is still clinging on by fingertips. As discussed ‘process’ ie payment doesn’t support the model. Also, we work reduced hours because of the intensity…
I enjoyed listening to this, naming risk management as a skill to be taught not innate- but I was left surprised as I know CW is a supporter of GPs, that the risk held in primary care was not mentioned once. It felt at odds with the framing of this being about workforce throughout the discussion.
Back down to London with the bike, reservation booked ✔️ no crazy hangar hooray! No ramp & v tight getting it into place straps - useful but filthy. Heading to @livingstreets.bsky.social board later - have you seen the excellent video on Making Safe Spaces for Women & Girls? ⬇️ well worth a watch!
By coincidence, I was asked by our opinion desk to write about the current panic over e-bikes, and so I wrote this, pointing out that if we're going to discuss e-bikes we should at least know what we're talking about.
Heroes!
For years, Stephen Lennon has asked supporters to trust him and fund him. A Channel 4 Dispatches investigation, made with HOPE not hate, has raised serious questions about his finances. I’ve added my name calling for a full investigation. Will you? secure.hopenothate.org.uk/page/199860/...
So true -- riding in a group offers what feels like exponentially more protection.
Excellent discussion- best I’ve heard on helmets thank you from over the water !
‘The best protection for cyclists is more cyclists’ This is a great nuanced discussion, well worth a listen
