I'm sorry for your troubles! We recently added support for the T1000E to our fork of the OTAFIX boot loader which has significant improvements for OTA update stability. I definitely recommend flashing this.

Got questions? Drop them in the comments on the blog post. We're planning a livestream with members of the Meshtastic team in the next couple of weeks to go deeper on what's new in 2.8, and we'll pull from your questions.

@meshtastic.orgOct 11, 2026, 2:08 AM

The post covers why 2.8.0 was pulled and some of the many changes in 2.8/2.8.1: signed packets, private-by-default location, support for much larger meshes and more. Heads-up: 2.8.1 is still an alpha, so give it a read before you upgrade.

We're finally ready to announce 2.8... well, about that. Make it 2.8.1.

Find out why, plus a high-level look at what's new:

Read it, check their work, and join the conversation.

Got your own test data? Share it, even if it's critical of Meshtastic. More data makes for better discussions.

There's a lot of noise right now about the future of LoRa mesh. Here's something more useful: actual field data.

Shout-out to YYCmesh for putting together a 500 kHz field report and sharing their methods and results with the wider community.
