Happy to share our latest work showing that fungal cell fusion not only requires local cell wall digestion but also inhibition of cell wall repair!

PAK-family kinases promote cell fusion irreversibility by preventing cell-wall repair

I'm not going to lie, this review puts the various challenges driving multicellularity very elegantly. For anyone excited about this field, this review is a must read. And damn this video is very very nice ! Congrats Will, Kai and Ozan.

Cool science alert!!
A dream come true at #ALPOLE Sion with @embl.org's Advanced Mobile Lab: hiking, sampling and learning from amazing scientists. And bringing back a tooooon of microscopic pets πŸ”¬πŸ§ͺ

Thanks everyone and thanks @dudinlab.bsky.social πŸ₯Ή#ProtistsOnSky

Its a wrap.

What a unique opportunity we had here at #ALPOLE #Sion with the @embl.org AML lab!

We sampled... a lot.
We worked... hard.
And we had a lot, a lot, but really alot of fun.
>30 ECR trained
>500 distinct samples across 2 weeks
+ too many protists awwwed at.
An amazing community growing.

I am still a bit speechless but my main PhD project is finally out in Science Advances. It was a long process, but I am so happy with the final results! Massive thanks to everyone involved, especially my co-authors and everyone involved in sampling! www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

@dudinlab.bsky.socialOct 2, 2026, 4:26 PM

And to finish ! A very warm thx to my two Buddies #Tom Battin & @nikobiota.bsky.social - all seen here enjoying one last drink after the chaos.
For putting all of this together in such a short time.
To witness the new generation of ECR being inspired by such research is just a Bliss...

Thanks all.

@dudinlab.bsky.socialOct 2, 2026, 4:26 PM

And to the #Ichthyosporeans team!
Wow, 280+ distinct samples,Agar, liquid & SCsorted in 5d! Obtained even from very wild spots (only discussed with drinks)!
A life experience, & hopefully some new frontiers opened.

But again, so much fun funny fun fun.

Its a blessing to work with you all. Really!

I want to thank the experts from the AML lab #Niko, #Paulina, #Mike for such smooth workflows ! & of course the funders again ! Who made this possible...
#EPFL #Valais, @sciencesunige.bsky.social , @embl.org, @embo.org & all the amazing foundations that support such amazing field work.
