PODCAST - Very Nearly An Armful
Tony: You great oaf! I thought I told you to cancel the milk
Sid: Oh, shut up moaning. Open the door
Tony: 400 bottles of milk, look at it all! What am I going to do with 400 bottles of milk?
Sid: Take it in and have a bath!
Liz: Espresso or cappuccino?
Tony: I'll have a white one with no froth
Liz: No froth?
Tony: I don't like froth!
Liz: That's half the attraction, you must have froth!
Tony: I don't want any froth! I want a cup of coffee, I dont want to wash my clothes in it!
Bill: We thought you might be hungry, so we brought you something to eat
Tony: Oh, that's really nice of you. That really is
Bill: Here you are, a packet of crisps and a pint of winkles!
Jungle Jim (Kenneth): I do like your loincloth, you know. I wish you'd make me one
Tony: Haven't you got one?
JJ: No, I use leaves.
Tony: Very attractive too
JJ: Well, it's alright in the summer, but you don't 'alf feel daft when autumn comes!
Miss Pugh: You can have bread and dripping Tony: Thank you very much indeed. The perfect Sunday dinner, roast bread and dripping. Most appetising, the height of luxury. Draw the curtains, I don't want the neighbours to see a man of my cal-i-bre eating bread and dripping!
Saturday night, time for some classic Hancock! Does Magna Carta mean nothing to you?
Tony: Where's me charts, ah there we are. Let me see now, the time is five past three, yes, according to the chart the north star should be approx 2ft 9 to the left of Mrs 'iggins TV aeriel. Yes, there she is, the sailors friend. Bill: The north star? Tony: No, Mrs 'iggins!
Tony: Don't think we're unaware of the real reason for this unwarranted outburst. It's class distinction isn't it? You don't think we should be in here do you, first class, people like us? You think we should be travelling up the front with the coal!
Tony: Sid!
Sid: What?
Tony: There's a car behind us
Sid: So what?
Tony: It's ringing a bell. I wonder what it's doing that for
Sid: Probably selling crumpets
Tony: I shouldn't think he'll sell many doing 80 miles an hour!

Remembering Ray Galton OBE who passed away #OTD 5 October 2018. Ray & Alan Simpson worked with Hancock for 10 years, including writing over 160 radio and TV episodes of Hancock's Half Hour and Hancock and The Rebel. Ray loved The Bowmans, let's enjoy in his memory.
Tony: I'm just going to shout my last defiant message to the world. You're doomed, all of you! Return to nature before it's too late! Kenneth: Go to bed you old drunk! Tony: I am not drunk sir, I have seen the light! Kenneth: You'll see my fist if you don't shut up!
love Saturdays, best day of the week. No work, the weekend to look forward to, and Saturday night coming up! The big night! The one bright spot in a week of unrelieved gloom! The one part of life's tragic panorama that I can really put up with!
Tony: I feel a right Charlie sitting here sometimes. Every other bed in the ward piled high with visitors. And I have to sit up with my headphones on, smiling as if I don’t care. I’ve heard them. "Nobody visiting him again today, poor man, take a biscuit over to him!"
Re-recorded 65 years ago today #OTD 1 October 1961, the Pye version of The Radio Ham. Originally made as a BBC TV show, it was re-made for an LP in the radio style. We celebrate in the forthcoming issue of The Missing Page where we speak to the sound engineer who was there!
Tony: Mr Sidney James will be seen as the villainous unscrupulous money grabbing landlord, a role which requires no acting ability on his part whatsoever!
Sid: I’ve never known anyone so finicky over their car as you are. I haven’t cleaned my car for three years Tony: That’s only so that any witnesses won’t be able to tell what colour it is. It’s a disgrace your car is. You have to feel along the door to find where the handle is!
Tony: I wonder where it came from? Where’s the postmark?
Bill: Durham
Tony: Durham. I didn’t go very well up there, I remember, they hated the sight of me.
Sid: Why pick on Durham? They all hated the sight of you!
Tony: Oh yes, they'll be going to see his sister in Acton. They always go that way. If they were going the other way, it'd be her mother in Tooting. Oh, they've gone. Oh well, that's about all the excitement we could expect today.
Tony: A roomful of unpublished Byron, the artistic find of the century! I can feel his presence. Yes, genius has been at work here...
"I wish I were a chestnut tree, and nourished by the sun,
With twigs and leaves and branches,
And conkers by the ton!"
You're never alone with a pilchard!
