From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!
Israel's genocide against Palestinians in Gaza and terror campaign of ethnic cleansing in the West Bank continues, and so must our resistance! We demand an end to all weapons trade with Israel and for the Australian government to sever all ties with the Israeli terror regime.
Victorian Socialists encourages its members and supporters to attend tomorrow's Global Day for Gaza rally - taking place at 12pm at the State Library (look out for our stall and contingent near the Sunken Library on corner Swanston & La Trobe Sts).
Nice to see VS candidate for Bass Chris Jobe getting a mention in Crikey for talking sense on potholes at a recent candidate forum on Phillip Island (article link below). No doubt there will be many such moments 'halfway between sincere amusement and genuine irritation' in this campaign!
VOTE '1' for Victorian Socialists to put people in parliament who'll take on all the big corporate and elite interests that dominate politics in this country and put the fear up billionaires like Gina Rinehart who've had everything their way for so long! pledge.victoriansocialists.org.au
This kind of policy is one reason why major party politicians and the billionaires they serve feel threatened by socialists. They don't want anyone in parliament who is going to upset 'business as usual' and actually fight for a better deal for working-class people and the oppressed.
We think politicians should be paid an average full-time worker's wage - equivalent to a 6th year nurse (currently $96,000), with increases pegged to the nurses' award. If elected, our candidates will accept only that amount and put the rest into community campaigns in the areas they represent.
This, combined with the cosy relationships that develop between politicians and corporate lobbyists and other big business representatives, mean they're much more likely to identify with and look after the interests of elites than working-class people in the communities they represent.
Put politicians on a worker's wage and get the big corporate interests out of parliament! The starting salary of a Victorian MP is $219,000, putting them in the richest 4 percent of income earners. Ministers get more than $390,000, putting them in the top 1 percent.

Didn't need a think tank to come up with this one for us. A good idea is a good idea. 👍

Nice write up on our candidate for Kororoit Rayan Hassan in the Melton & Moorabool Star Weekly. We're currently finalising our last candidate preselections and will be running in all 88 lower house seats and all 8 upper house regions across Victoria.
Read our full housing policy on our website: www.victoriansocialists.org.au/policies/hou...
- Establish a state bank offering loans to owner-occupiers at below market rates - Conduct a statewide audit of empty and underused property and appropriate (and where necessary refurbish) homes left empty for two years without a good reason for use as public housing
Our policies put people before profit. We'll fight to: - Impose a 25 percent cut to all residential tenancies followed by a five-year rent freeze - Establish a publicly owned and run construction firm to build 150,000 energy-efficient public housing units over the next decade
Victorian Socialists has a plan to fix the housing crisis and build a housing system centred on meeting human needs rather than generating profit for the big banks, developers and wealthy investors.

A message from one of our supporters in Footscray who was forced to resort to a bespoke solution when someone kept tearing down the Jasmine Duff for Footscray campaign sign from their front fence. ❤️
