Nobody can keep up with @peonor.bsky.social on Duolingo, but at least we both have bright costumes πŸ€πŸ¦„

Our friend quest to collect 2000 XP between us. Per-Ola got 1667 and I got... the rest. I am dressed as a rubber duck in an inflatable ring, and he is dressed as a lilac unicorn

If someone gave me an entire free month to think up compounds to do that with I don't think I would hit on diethyl zinc in that time

Well, no. Everybody knows in reality it's little gnomes.

Honestly I like to imagine I have tiny little jaguars running about inside the computer doing all the tasks for me πŸ©·πŸ† big kitties.

Cheers for the mthrfcking weekend! And it's an even better weekend when you have Jaguar calculations quietly running themselves no matter what you get up to πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ πŸ† #compchem #RealTimeChem

Much as the general media really doesn't need to explain the precise level of detail, I still feel that there's generally been so much hand-waving of what this particular prize involves as not to explain it all...

@supersciencegrl.co.ukOct 14, 2026, 6:42 PM

Ja :) on everything! I forgot about it when i needed to go over to the IT guy to do some admin stuff recently. He was quite confused πŸ˜‚

@supersciencegrl.co.ukOct 14, 2026, 4:48 PM

That looks great! Anything that makes it easier for people to do science with high quality :)))))

Aha, a response to my appeal! "Please note that we do not cover this treatment for any reason." Next line: "We can help you find a specialist that your membership covers in full" < oh thanks, that's not completely confusing or anything.

The AI profile pics too though...

Hell maybe we're all bots

Check out these weird bots commenting actual chemistry on C&EN. If they didn't repeat themselves I'd think they were real people

Screenshot from am online post's comments

First comment: "Yeah, I know what you mean! Checking those stereochemistry issues can be a real challenge even for the pros - it's like trying to spot a tiny flaw in a complex molecule!.Yeah, I know what you mean! Last comment: "Finally, some well-deserved recognition for the chemists behind asymmetric catalysts - it's about time we celebrate their work on stereoselectivity!.Finally, some well-deserved recognition for the chemists behind asymmetric catalysts - it's about time we celebrate their work on stereoselectivity!."

I am once again asking the entire healthcare industry to stop dealing with women's health only in the context of men and having sex with men (currently appealing an Axa decision that said anything involving hormones is "contraception" and couldn't possibly be, you know, my health)

@supersciencegrl.co.ukOct 12, 2026, 7:50 PM

I love that! πŸ˜‚

When I play anything reasonably dramatic on the piano, my smartwatch thinks I'm using an elliptical really ineffectively

Screenshot from Google Health app. My pulse stays around 77 BPM in the "light" zone, despite that it thinks I just did 15+ mins of running on an elliptical trainer

Now the @cenmag.bsky.social team understands how I feel... I spend a lot of time curating chemical data sources and the absolute prevalence of wrongness even in reputable sources (Nobel Prize vs CAS, for example) is... really not low 😁 #chemoinformatics #chemsky

Screenshot from article

The issue was a pesky methyl group protruding from each molecule’s second stereocenter. We pulled out the modeling kits, but no flip or twist could make the direction of that methyl agree with the absolute stereochemistry depicted on CAS SciFinder. (CAS is a division of the American Chemical Society. ACS publishes C&EN but is not involved in editorial decisions.)

I would like that too in not-London! Should I hang fire for now @heydebigale.bsky.social ? :)
