@gastonrampersad.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gyWent to a lovely cafe/lunch place on Sunday. It’s name means “a common utensil for making earlier forms of bread by the open fire”. Searching for that word online took me to a German translation meaning “to pass water/to urinate". My friend found the translation buried on an Instagram post […]
@fairtradestu.mastodonapp.uk.ap.brid.gyReposted by @gastonrampersad.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gyThe second anniversary of this post is coming up, and surprise surprise these little "end of life" laptops are continuing to run well with #linux and do what we need them to, which includes spending less on tech so we can buy more actual books for the school […]
@finestructure.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gyReposted by @gastonrampersad.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gyThere's a German saying “wessen Brot ich fress, dessen Lied ich sing” - “whose bread I eat, their song I sing” and it comes as no surprise that the Claude sponsorship money is starting to shape the tunes. It may not be the dominant reason for @atpfm's turn towards LLM endorsement and perhaps […]

@gastonrampersad.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy@tristan that 2 episode Rise of Apocalypse was so so good. I never really understood Apocalypse, only ever as “powerful bad guy”. At the end, I was almost rooting for him.
@gastonrampersad.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy#mastodaoine, is this true? 😅
@gastonrampersad.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy@mikaelfer thanks Mikael!
@gastonrampersad.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gySpent the weekend learning how to build dry stone wall. This wall will probably outlive every software project I’ve worked on professionally. #westcork #mastodaoine
@gastonrampersad.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy@tristan not even through the first episode and I’m already annoyed that Storm/Halle Berry won’t feature in the Doomsday film.
@gastonrampersad.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gyFinally @tristan can sleep better at night knowing I’ve started X-Men 97, season 2.
@gastonrampersad.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gyIf you weren’t able to catch Small Prophets on the BBC, it’s coming to AppleTV. Truly beautiful television.

@finestructure okay, maybe you can now step away from WoW, ever so briefly to run the update.
@gastonrampersad.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gyIt’s interesting watching people I know say things like I don’t share my slides because there is proprietary information in them but they’ll also upload entire documents into AI systems without batting an eyelid.
