♻️ The good news? Deploying renewable energy and energy efficiency measures under the EU Electrification Action Plan could reduce fossil fuel import bills by EUR 260 billion per year by 2040.

@oilchange.orgOct 7, 2026, 9:23 PM

🚨 Oil Change International analysts warn that between 2026 and 2040, the average wholesale price of U.S. gas could be 80% higher than during the past decade. That means the cost of U.S. LNG for European customers is expected to dramatically rise.

@oilchange.orgOct 7, 2026, 9:23 PM

💰 New Research: For European customers, gas from the US is already the most expensive, and is projected to become even more expensive. 1 in 4 EU households and many businesses already struggle with energy poverty. But even as US gas prices rise, the EU is becoming increasingly reliant on it.

4/5 Nonetheless, African governments are actively building alternatives. They are championing a UN Framework Convention on International Tax Cooperation and a parallel framework on sovereign debt.

3/5 Even when finance does flow, it is concentrated in 4 countries: South Africa, 🇿🇦 Egypt, 🇪🇬 Morocco 🇲🇦and Kenya. 🇰🇪 Of the energy finance reaching Sub-Saharan Africa in 2024, just 5% came as grants, 85% came as loans or equity, deepening the debt crisis.

@oilchange.orgOct 7, 2026, 2:05 PM

2/5 Africa needs at least US$217 billion a year for renewable energy generation, transport, and universal energy access. Only 21% is currently reaching the continent.

1/5 📑New Briefing!
At least US$367bn a year could be unlocked for Africa’s just energy transition by changing rules on debt, tax, credit ratings & public finance. 🧵

We’re at the U.S Supreme Court today, standing with Boulder communities in their fight for climate accountability.

Communities deserve their day in court and fossil fuel companies must be held accountable for the harms they have caused.

The Senate permitting bill would be a gift to data centers and their massive gas buildout. It would weaken accountability + give developers more power at communities’ expense.

Congress should reject the bill.

Today, @cjaourpower.bsky.social, @greenlatinos.org, @ienearth.bsky.social, @weact4ej.bsky.social, and @westernlaw.org led a coalition to oppose a deregulatory permitting reform proposal, titled the ‘Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act.’

Quite evident Republicans are thrilled they have a deal to weaken bedrock environmental laws—the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Environmental Policy Act, & National Historic Preservation Act. This bill is one of the greatest attacks on environmental protections in U.S. history.

Do you care about clean air and clean water? Don’t want AI data centers in your backyard? Do you want access to outdoor spaces that are safe for your kids to play in? Then take action against dirty permitting reform!

There's a reason the Climate Justice Alliance, whose member organizations work in the communities harmed most directly by fossil fuel pollution, oppose this dirty deal.

@oilchange.orgSep 30, 2026, 5:19 PM

We all deserve a voice in the decisions that impact our lives. The ‘dirty deal’ shuts communities out of decisionmaking spaces, particularly the Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities that are disproportionately harmed by polluting fossil fuel projects. bit.ly/4xY65zY

@oilchange.orgSep 30, 2026, 5:19 PM

This "dirty deal" would raise electricity prices by accelerating the buildout of energy-guzzling AI data centers and liquefied natural gas export projects, raising demand for gas to levels that can only be met through more $$ production.
