200 years ago, construction of the Rideau Canal began. Around 1830, James Pattison Cockburn, a British military officer and watercolourist, produced a series of works depicting Ottawa and the Rideau Canal.

In 2016, the wreck of the HMS Terror was located.

It had been 171 years since it was last seen in sailing condition in Baffin Bay. The Terror, alongside the HMS Erebus, was part of the infamous Franklin expedition.
