@copscampaign.bsky.socialRead the full shocking story of the construction industry blacklist in Blacklisted: The Secret War Between Big Business & Union Activists by Dave Smith & @philchamberlain.bsky.social.
@copscampaign.bsky.socialThe Consulting Association was active until exposed in 2009. Although most major construction firms illegally used the list none has faced any charges or even any censure beyond a letter asking them not to do it again. Police didn't even get a ticking off.
@copscampaign.bsky.socialThose on the illegal blacklist were mostly targeted for their union organising, though others were on it for asking for proper personal protective equipment at work, or being spotted by police on environmental or anti-racist demonstrations.
@copscampaign.bsky.socialIn 2013 the Independent Police Complaints Commission revealed that every constabulary’s Special Branch illegally supplied information about political activists to the Consulting Association, a company who ran an illegal blacklist of construction workers.
@copscampaign.bsky.socialPolice workers sacked & jailed for illegally sharing police info with criminals. But #spycops specifically gathered info for private corporations & officers far beyond the undercover units illegally shared info too, yet none have ever been held to account
