This week marked the 25 years since of the start of the “Global War on Terror.” The human, financial, and environmental costs of these wars are tragic and staggering. It's past time to end the era endless wars for good and to chart a better approach to security. ⬇️

As a Quaker organization, our opposition to the death penalty is rooted in our belief in the inherent dignity of all people. We call on members of Congress to strongly denounce this execution and to act to abolish the death penalty for good.

We are deeply disturbed and sickened by the U.S. military’s plans to broadcast a public execution. Our faith teaches us that violence harms all those who partake in it, and carrying out a public execution would inflict a terrible and shameful wound on the moral soul of our nation.

A naval blockade is an act of war. Starving civilians is a war crime & can be a crime against humanity. We should not mince words with what the Trump Administration is inflicting on the people of Cuba. It's cruel, vindictive, shameful, & criminal. There must be accountability.
