So, historically, men have used the privilege afforded to them by patriarchy to push the "unprofitable" work of care onto women, making it easier for them to hoard the more profitable (and thus higher-status) work for themselves. And companies encouraged this, because it meant more profits for them.

FYI, this is happening because WSF is refusing to even give engineers a cost of living adjustment in their next contract. The salary they mention here just happens to be the highest out of six. Also, it's illegal to not give them sick leave. It's not a flex!

A Facebook post from Washington State Ferries: This morning, 23 engine room employees called in sick. Every employee qualified to fill those positions has declined to fill them and keep the ferries running. All of the employees calling in sick, and declining to fill those vacancies, are represented by the Marine Engineers’ Beneficial Association (MEBA) who represent engine room employees. The ferries cannot run without these roles being filled. As a result, 13 of our 18 ferries are not in service. We understand how disruptive this is to thousands of Washingtonians. We expect our employees to return to work as soon as possible. The employees who work in the engine room play a vital role in providing WSF’s safe service, which is why Staff Chief Engineers have a base salary of $157,000, and can make more than $350,000 a year with overtime, as well as annual sick and vacation leave, and retirement accrual. All WSF vessels are fully staffed at the beginning of every service day at U.S. Coast Guard required levels. When an employee calls in sick, request dispatchers work to fill the position as quickly as possible. When those positions aren’t filled, the boat cannot sail, which is what we’re experiencing today across 13 of the 18 vessels currently in service.

Basically using LLMs and agentic ai is a massive security risk and no one should do so basically ever and these companies should be prosecuted for hacking. Also two-party consent should extend to all electronic communications.

The last company, AT&T that was forced to split due to monopolies was in 1982. 1982. There's like 5ish companies that owe all of the food market and alot of the entertainment market. Not to mention Amazon is literally in almost every field now it seems, medicine, groceries, online shopping etc.

we're now on a multi-week cycle of talking about a.i. going rogue in environments with lowered guardrails and given the specific task of engaging in violations of federal law and are no longer talking about data centers nor examining why these corporations are not being prosecuted for hacking
